Getting singles that don’t result in runs doesn’t make up for giving up several runs behind the plate.

I’m not that down on Garver overall but he’s been a butcher this game.

I don't like that our options at catcher either are 1) above average defense who will be a black hole in the lineup or 2) competent hitter but poor defense.

two out, hit to the OF. I make em thrown out the runner every time.

Grossman has a 2% better chance of scoring on the play in question than you did ;)

Can someone confirm that this is the MLB Lance Lynn the Twins signed and not someone with the same name? Have the Twins demanded a DNA test from his agent?

Nishioka.

actually, I think the chances of Grossman scoring are much higher than the chances they score if he doesn't go.

That's anyone any time, but made even higher when it's Granserson in the OF and Adrianza due up.

I could answer that question for ya -- it's pretty easy to see if the ball is touching the line or not as it's rolling.  If you see brown dirt between the ball and the line, then it's foul.  But like anything else in umpiring, it's the angle that you have as you're looking at it.  The HP umpire should be straddling the line looking straight down at it.  It's possible that Garver's positioning blocked out the umpire and he may have had to move a little off that normal angle and that may have skewed what he saw, especially if he moved to the foul side of Garver to look at it.

Sorry that isn't correct, the ground has nothing to do with it. It's the relation of the ball to the line. The rule book says fair territory is from the baselines perpendicular upwards. Any part of the ball that breaks that plane it is fair.

And so much for the run the Twins got back.

Ditto. Make ‘em earn it. We’ve seen baseball for years. The frequency at which an outfielder can throw it directly to the plate is alarmingly low.

Watching the replay.

Kepler for some strange reason broke toward the plate and didn't get back to tag.

Brian Dozier was quoted as saying: "I could’ve said something but they have tremendous veteran leadership over there".

The Orioles will talk to Kepler about it when they come to town.
