Look, I'm not a Paul Molitor fan, but what can you do as a manager when virtually every single one of your relievers have morphed into pumpkins?

If the Twins keep playing like this, the Indians are going to win the Central with about a 35 game lead.

Wow!  I checked the score and we were up 8-4.  Watched a TV show with my wife and boom!  ...and we just caught a huge break.

Was it The Ten Commandments?

That's the right call.  Wayyyyyyyy outside the running lane for one, in fair territory for two....and yes, you have the right to the base but the snapshot of the runner is taken when the catcher throws it, not when it arrives at the base.

Just catching up on tape delay...we're off to a fantastic start I see...up 5-1 in the first! We got this one in the bag, I'm sure.

Well let me just tell you..

Yes, he was in the baseline.  Yes, that's the rule.  No, it didn't affect the play other than that he might have gotten drilled if he were running up the line.

Alright, I'm caught up.

Mauer's AB with two runners on was the low point for me. Take two strikes, shuffle foot across batter's box to smooth it out, look back for confirmation that yes, indeed, it was a fastball right down the middle, nod in agreement, get jammed and dribble one to the second baseman.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Worse than the pitching.

Pathetic.

Usually, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole, but, in the case of the Twins, it appears the sum is less than all of the parts combined.

It's the managers job to make sure everyone is ready to play. After the 2016 debacle and so far tonight, I have serious doubts as the ability of Molitor to inspire the troops.

Plus, managers are always fired when things go south. It's not always fair, but that's the way it has always been.

And, the new FO maybe isn't far behind.

No way the Twins don't send either Hale or Duffey down after this game, right?

I know which one I’d pick, if only judging by tonight

I'd say "absolutely pathetic", but I think that goes without saying. Just when you think it's gotten as low as you can go, they find a way to dig the hole even deeper.

If the overall pitching doesn't start showing some noticeable improvement soon, this will turn into a very long and dissatisfying season. Berrios notwithstanding, this pitching staff is a bona-fide train wreck.
