Here's a question--does a sacrifice affect BABIP?  It has to, right?

Counter-intuitively, it does not.

 

/ edit - sac bunt, I mean. A sac fly would ruin it. I guess the logic is that you intend to bunt, but a sac fly is more or less just a regular attempt for glory.

It makes no sense to me, a play is clearly made on a sacrifice--the defense has to do something, so a sacrifice should affect BABIP.

 

A homer, unless its of the inside-the-park persuasion, should not count for BABIP, as there is no play to be made.

You have to protect the plate there.  Just awful.

 

These umpires need to recognize that 1.000 BABIP and realize that THE Ryan LaMarre only swings at strikes.
