With the season being early its time to bring out the projections based off of the early games in the season.

Like right now Zach Duke is striking out batters at a pace of 36 per 9 innings.

Sano is on pace to strike out 486 times this season.

and Rodney is on pace to give up 162 game winning home runs.

Lets see what tomorrow brings.

For those of you, aside from Indiana Twins, wondering....that would be Alexi Casilla, all time steals percentage leader.

I wanted to give others a chance to guess. And now the answer has changed. With two steals this year, Chase Utley has passed Alexi.

The rest of the top 10 is Carlos Beltran, Jack Perconte, Jayson Werth, Kaz Matsui, Eric Byrnes, Jason Bay, Nate McLouthand Jarrod Dyson. To me, Beltran is by far the most impressive, since Dyson is the only one who has even half the steals Beltran does. Worth noting is that Eric Davis and Tim Raines are just outside the top 10.

I posted along these lines elsewhere, but I guess it's worth summarizing: If Ryan LaMarre holds onto his current Twins stats, he will be tied for 14th all-time, in number of PA (8) while maintaining a perfect 1.000 BABIP in a major league season.

The list of leaders is heavily populated by pitchers. Gary Waslewski had an incredible 1970, with 19 PA in 32 games, consisting of 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 sacrifice bunts (which slightly unintuitively don't count as "in play"), and 15 strikeouts.

Among position players, LaMarre is tied for 4th if things don't change. Outfielder Bill Hall for the Orioles holds the record with his 2012 portfolio of 14 PA divided up among 2 hits (one a home run), 5 walks and 7 strikeouts. Those were his last appearances in the major leagues - you would think he must have realized he couldn't improve on perfection and swiftly retired, but actually he played a couple more years in the minors.

The position-player record seems within reach, if Ryan can lace another single or two and make sure to strike out otherwise. Good luck!

After last night's amazing game, Ryan now would stand in second place all-time among single seasons that maintained a 1.000 BABIP. 12 plate appearances. His season batting average is .583.

What's also remarkable is that this season brings up his lifetime batting average only to .184, and since he hasn't walked (to speak of) or hit for extra bases (at all), his lifetime OPS is a very empty .399. And his lifetime BABIP has now risen to .300, which is pretty much league average. If he was hitting in bad luck before coming to the Twins, spread over bits and pieces of three seasons, he's pretty much evened things up, all in one month.

What a ride for the guy. Hope he's enjoying every second. I am.

Got to admit I kind of like the guy. Hope he keeps this up. I don't get to watch the games, as I'm out of market, but is he hitting the ball hard at least? That BABIP will normalize, but if he's hitting the ball hard, he could be a decent contributor to the team.

I take it back. The additional playing time changes things. As of this morning, among position players with a seasonal BABIP higher than .750 (he's at .889), if his season ended right now, Ryan LaMarre would have the #1 quantity of plate appearances with 15, nosing out the aforementioned Bill Hall at 14. It's not the same record (BABIP threshold 1.000) as before, so I'm guilty of moving the goalposts, nevertheless Ryan currently holds an all-time top MLB spot at something. Woo hoo!

OK, OK, this thread is Fun with numbers, not Torture. I'll stop now. (Too late, I know.)
