Molitor's contributions tonight:  2 lost baserunners, 5 pitchers in one inning, 2 wasted outs with sacrifice bunts.

I can't wait till he's gone.

I'm going to like this post, unlike it, and then like it again to express my support.

pusillanimity

[pyoo-suh-luh-nim-i-tee]

late Middle English: from ecclesiastical Latin pusillanimis (translating Greek olugopsukhos ), from pusillus ‘very small’ + animus ‘mind,’ + -ous.

I had to look that up.

Great word.

Now I can agree.

Gardenhire was the king.

If the pus fits, use it.

Against a lefty, he was honestly the best option, IMO.

This was actually a complaint against Falvine, not Molitor, as it is criminal that this is the case. Much like the state of this bullpen.

Agreed. Adding a RH bat and a reliever in August could and should have been done.

This might qualify for the 2017 Twins' epitaph.

We're advocating PH'ing Giminez now? Yeah, no....

Bad options, for sure. Gimenez is most certainly not a "good" option, but the guy has surprised me on more than one occasion this year with a timely hit. I'd still take the veteran who's actually done it over the September call-up- Every. Single. Time.

And NOT subtracting a reliable reliever in July wouldn't have hurt, either.

Maybe Molitor just forgot that the last time he brought Boshers in, in Tampa, with a 6-5 lead in the 5th, to do the lefty lefty thing.... he served up the solo homer to the first batter, lefty Kevin Kiermaier, and the game was tied at 6, just like that. The Buddy and the lefty lefty thing is just about as reliable as the "but Pressly has stuff" thing.

Molitor's babbling response about his bullpen usage made as much sense as his actual bullpen usage.

I don't get the postgame...what'd he say? And did ANYone ask about the obsession with sac bunting?

No sac bunt questions that I heard.

Molly's response was just rambling and none of it made any sense. It was like he was trying to figure out why he did it as he was speaking.

Everyone roasted the front office for months to get Garver up here.  He's up, he's right handed and we now we clamor not to use him?  That is the reason he is up.  It was the right call.

Gimenez and his .184 BA with RISP or his .195 BA with Runners on?  Maybe his .167 BA in close and late situations?  I'd rather have Kepler in there against a tough lefty than Gimenez pinch hitting.

The real problem I had with Molly tonight was pulling Jose after the 7th.  He has thrown more than 94 pitches in 14 of of his previous 20 starts.  He was crusing besides the HR to Gordon.  Let him toss one more, or take him out at 1st sign of trouble in the 8th.

Agreed on Kepler. No argument with Gimenez's poor numbers, I acknowledged how bad the options were. But that wasn't the question posed. The question was why Molitor went with a raw rookie over a proven major league RHB. Moloitor appeared to be saving Adrianza for possible PR duty (another mistake).

But, among poor RHB options (thanks to Falvine), Garver was undoubtedly the wrong choice at the wrong time, and I'm guessing the probability of outcome analysis backs up that premise.

I think most wanted Garver up earlier to get him experience and to see if he could help in situations like this. They didn't necessarily just want to throw him into the fire.
