I don't know if this is considered nit-picking but our favorite team compiled a 20-10 record in August this year including 18-7 over the last 25 games.

At this point in the season with several teams in contention it's kind of like the postseason starts now.

 

I wasn't a fan of expanding the play-offs for baseball, because I did not want it to be like some other sports where almost everyone makes the play-offs (although I guess that really has not been a problem for the Wolves).  

 

That said, the second wild card spot does make it interesting for quite a few more teams and their fans in September, it does not extend the play-off season by too much, and the teams that actually win their divisions are rewarded with a better chance to remain in the play-off hunt longer.

I think having a second wild card is better than just one because it puts a higher premium on winning the division. We don't want any further expansion though. Ever.

I drove my 1946 hippie school bus across North Dakota back in 1970. Drove for hours on the interstate without seeing another vehicle. Or maybe it just seemed that way. Things were kind of hazy in the bus even though we had the windows open.

 

Passed a cowboy sitting on his horse alongside the freeway. He shook his head in disbelief as we zoomed by at 45 mph. Guess he'd never seen a hippie bus with smoke rolling out the windows before.

 

Or maybe he'd just never seen a bus, period.

 

Got to Teddy Roosevelt National Park and the ground was smoking! Like blew us away, dudes! We expected to see North Dakotans running around sniffing the park fumes but I guess all fifty-five of 'em were in church or something.

 

I always wondered why Teddy bailed out of New York and went ranching in North Dakota... I guess it was a natural high for him.

 

We had no trouble finding our way back to Minnesota. If you stood on the bus roof you could see Fargo from the park's entrance. Which was good because there was no one around to ask directions from. We got half way back to Fargo and the cowboy was still sitting on his horse in the same spot. That's when we realized he was North Dakota's highway cop and he was running a speed trap.

I believe the Nickel Trophy is in our possession and has been in our possession since 2003 when the two teams were still NCC conference members. I've heard it has been hidden by UND and I've heard that the state legislature was trying pass some sort of decree that it be housed in Bismarck. 

 

All I know for sure is that the two teams have only played once since 2003 that was in 2015 and that game was not designated a nickel trophy game by UND I believe.

 

I have no idea what is happening inside the walls of the decision makers but from the outside it looks like both schools are playing some serious hardball with each other and it has prevented the teams from playing each other since they each moved up a level and into separate conferences. 

 

I can understand scheduling difficulties on occasion but for 15 YEARS!!! You can't schedule a yearly game that the entire state got jacked up for and the public claim is scheduling. It would be fairly simple... Hold the 1st Saturday in September and rotate home field every year. There is something going on between the two schools that probably includes some unprofessional language toward each other.  

 

It's a shame because all of the 500 plus residents of North Dakota are the ones to suffer. 

That won't be a problem for very much longer, UND is joining the rest of the Dakotas in the MVFC and the Summit league in 2019/2020 so they will play against each other every year as conference opponents. As it should be.

Riverbrian,  Anyone who lives in Grand Forks should consider moving.  North Dakota rivals are now in different levels.  I believe one is division 1 and one is division 2.  That would be why they do not play.

 

Only in Hockey are levels different and they are way different.

And I'd like one of the teams to be gifted to me by a crazy rich uncle that I don't know exists. 

 

Seriously though... I'd like two more teams and 4 4 team divisions in each league and 6 playoff teams in each league.

Well, it's that time of year again ... have to run to the post office to send a care package to a new college coed! :)

 

If you keep running to the where you want the package delivered. It will get there faster.

Did Lea kiss Luke at one point?  I am assuming that was before the twin connection was revealed, although with that family that would be the least of their problems when it comes to dysfunctional family relationships.

Early in Empire Strikes Back, while Luke is recovering from the snow monster attack. Right after Leia had called Han a scruffy looking nerf herder.
