Super duper AB by buxton.

Progress.

Yes. Baby steps, perhaps, but it's hard to imagine him having that AB in April.

Hader looks like he might be the 4th Hanson brother.

Or a Hrbowski doppelganger from previous days.

Progress, I agree. For super duper, in my book, the at bat doesn't end with the 3rd walk to load the bases, but a double in the gap, or at least a hit that drives in runs. We walk the bases loaded, and score nothing. Other teams get one walk, and our pitchers somehow let them score........... we waste walks and get nothing way too often.

It can be looked up. This year in 51 PA with runners in scoring position and two out, he's batting .342 with power for a 1.141 OPS. But don't let that get in the way of a good rant. :)

And with what BBREF calls "late and close" he's .173/.271/.346 in 59 PA.

And in what BBREF classifies as high leverage situations he's .190/.311/.365. in 74 PA.

The really crazy difference is looking at his leadoff numbers. Leading off the game he's slashing .295/.330/.516 and when you expand it to just leading off an inning he's hitting .277/.339/.535. That lends credence to what others have claimed which is that Dozier strongly prefers to lead off because it plays into his chosen hitting approach. Much more likely to get a meaty fastball with empty bases and no outs.

That really is amazing because he seems to fail every time in those situations.

But I think that about everyone

In most endeavors .342 is a poor average. Only in baseball and bar pickup lines is it remarkably good.

Against a wild pitcher I don't mind drawing the walk, but yeah he definitely had a couple foul-offs there that could have been driven somewhere.

Memo to BD-- that fake bunt, and bunting up the line with men on, and you're the only power threat in the lineup?

---That sucks.

Geez, I gotta edit this- and Mauer does is sometimes, too, taking a walk when a hit would score a run--  when you're supposed to be THE GUY, don't abdicate your responsibility to perhaps drive in a run, and leave it to the next guy.

Counsell just being an idiot out there.

So pathetic to not even move the runners up with no outs and dozier, Mauer and grossman batting. Truly awful.

My favorite part of watching this team is when they get runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs, then do nothing with it.

It's cool though, because that's the only time our "stud hitters" get to work on their bunting.

Can't watch. Three errors? Like bad ones?

Bobbled play at short by Polanco, failure at picking up a ball in the outfield by Buxton and a throw from the edge of the outfield by Dozier that went 15 feet to the right of home plate.

Shoot, if Dozier manages to get a bunt down, move the runners up a base, Mauer's line drive to left scores Castro.

However, its dumb to bunt with the best power hitter currently in the lineup

Bottom four of the lineup is doing their job getting on base, going 6 for 9 with 2 walks and a strikeout. All the top of the lineup has done is draw walks and fly out. This is a strong example of why having on-base guys at 1B and DH instead of run producers is killing rallies.

Heh.. I only started to check in on the game last inning.  And I'm still burning.  I lay that crappy inning right at BD's feet.  Those 2 bunt attempts, followed by the typical Mighty Casey swing....  That ain't gettin' 'er done.  Sheesh.....
