Game Thread: Twins vs. Texas, 8/6/2017, 1:10 PM CDT

[Aggies7]

Well

[spinowner]

Hopefully we see an improved Jose Berrios.

In other news, so far today the Twins BABIP is 1.000.

I still think that home runs should be included in BABIP.

[yarnivek1972]

I know the Twins pitching is terrible and we should sell all our assets and plan to compete in 2021, but someone tell me something good Castro has done since the first two weeks of the season.

Haven't you heard? Anytime a Twins pitcher does well, Castro gets credit. When they struggle - you know, like nearly all of them have done all season - it's because they aren't listening to him or the coaches. I mean, there's no other explanation that justifies spending $24,000,000 on Castro over three seasons. Right?

[spinowner]

That's why he'd batting cleanup! (Too bad there was nobody on base to clean up.) And this game is 3/4 of the way to the home run cycle. Who's going to hit the granny to finish the job?

[NDagri]

This game is turning out to be some fun.

[yarnivek1972]

Martinez ain't exactly fooling the Twins' hitters.

[spinowner]

This game is like a lot of recent Twins games, except in reverse.

[Blake]

That little break to regroup may be just what the boys needed.

I think you called it.

Now that the game is tied again, please disregard my earlier negativity

[Hosken Bombo Disco]

what is it about 5 runs leads with this team?

[PDX Twin]

Was Carew watching that bunt?

[wavedog]

Not sure I have ever seen a bunt like that but it works for Buxton

[yarnivek1972]

Productive out from the pitcher's spot.

[Hosken Bombo Disco]

I wonder if the Twins have studied whether Buxton should just steal on pitcher's first move and not even worry about if the move is a pickoff attempt.

[wavedog]

Another case of curious bunting.  Especially with a not so great pitcher on the mound and Buxton on first.

[yarnivek1972]

Paging Trevor Hildenberger.

[wavedog]

Nice job by Berrios coming back after that first inning, a rain delay and a couple of runners on in the 5th.

[Blake]

Lull the opposing team into a false sense of security?

[NDagri]

Ok, how about some run scoring to get Berrios in position to win. Not that he really deserves it.

[Blake]

Was Carew watching that bunt?

If he was, he was probably laughing his butt off. I know I laughed.

I wish that someone could design a batting glove to provide more protection for Sano's hand and wrist without affecting his swing,

Now that the game is tied again, please disregard my earlier negativity

Only if you've replaced your negative waves with pessimistic waves.

[spinowner]

Andrus tried to deke Escobar there. Fortunately Esco is not Lonnie Smith.

[Circus Boy]

Prediction: Escobar will score.

[wavedog]

2 very close plays - I think Grossman might have been safe but probably too close to overturn

[glunn]

Grossman got jobbed there?

[spinowner]

Interesting review there. Sounds like Dicknroy were not clear on the review rule.

[yarnivek1972]

It appeared to me that Grossman was tagged before Escobar touched the plate. Of course, it also appeared that Grossman was safe. So, I think both umpires on the field made wrong calls.

[PDX Twin]

Well, he'd have been in a heap of trouble if the run hadn't scored. I usually like aggressive baserunning, but he put at risk a run that was in whether he stays at first or not. Dumb move.

[yarnivek1972]

Interesting development. Dozier out of the game. No injury that seems likely.

Could he have been traded?
