Game Thread: Twins @ Dodgers, 7/26 @ 9:10pm CT

Having done more than my fair share of minimalist Game Thread Intros, due to trying to do other things, well, i was thinking of joking here that i'd been optioned to the AAA Game Thread Intro squad. So now that i'm back up, i gotta show i can get the job done, or Chief and ChiTown won't trust me to tow the Game Thread Rubber the next time round in the rotation... And actually i'm doing less today than i'd been doing the last few times. Life is still hecticker than i'd care to admit, and it is in fact my fault, but well, for one day, i thought i'd be able to get stuff done. So, subjects to cogitate upon...

1) I miss Buxton. Not to say i don't like having Granite around. But i still miss Buxton. I guess i should also miss Sano...

2) Did that pitch count? I read all about Rosario playing 7 instead of Polanco batting 7... As well as one of the Dodger announcers saying someone was doing good in the 8 hole, only to have the other correct him that's the 8th spot in the line up. We all make me steaks. Medium rare, if you don't mind.

3) Strangely many of these Dodger players' names sound familiar. I think it was because they were rumored to be in the potential Dozier package. Oh right. Packages. They weren't offering the entire team for him. We might actually have taken that offer... But somehow i doubt we'd have 70 wins at this point even if we had.

4) Books. Anyone read anything good lately? Just thought i'd ask... I keep meaning to read. It's the summer after all, with summer reading lists for everyone and their mother.

5) Success. Sometimes it means winning. Sometimes it just means improvement. And sometimes it just means getting out Dodge. So here's to success, with all 3 ss and 2 cs. But i still hope we win.

I wonder what the deal with Buxton is? He was supposed to be ready yesterday.

Books? I don't want to freak out Jerr. :)

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that LA starts "B" squad pitchers against the Twins?

I hesitate to ask... (cue the appropriate music) then what is ugly?

A four game losing streak.

Sounds like Buxton is suffering with a migraine. I do sympathize with this.

I learned about headaches from two sonofa-Bs named Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker.

Books. Good Books.

Lost in the Fun House

1984

The Dark Tower

Game of Thrones

Jurassic Park

The Complete Sherlock Holmes

Oryx and Crake

The Old Man and the Sea

Where the Red Fern Grows

I am very intrigued by Lost in the Funhouse and will try to check it out from a local library at my earliest convenience, especially as short stories are about the right bite size for me these days.

Have read 1984 (and kinda feel like one of the old impotent fellas at the pub of late) as well as the Dark Tower (assuming this is the Stephen King series) and the Game of Thrones (as much of it as there is) and Old Man and the Sea.

Don't think i've read Jurassic Park, the Complete Sherlock Holmes (i assume you are limiting yourself to Doyle, and not all the Holmes inspired fiction?) and Where the Red Fern Grows, but at this point i've been contaminated by alternative media formats...

I read a bunch of Doyle's less popular stuff: the Professor Challenger series, Brigadier Gerard, the White Company.

Oryx and Crake sounds interesting, and i actually have not read any Atwood... Good first exposure to the author?

Great intro, SampleSizeofOne. (I think I've found the explanation for your minimalist approach)

Anyway, currently working on the Beau Trilogy. (Beau Geste, Beau Sabreur, Beau Ideal)

Also, in the book bullpen: "Richard the Third," "Slow Death in the Fast Lane," and "Monster Hunter Siege."

Looks like no one is sitting in the Twins Daily seats behind home plate tonight. :)

I am approximately the same distance from home plate tonight.

Unfortunately, it's the home plate on the TV in my house.

Glad ya made it safely back!

Don't forget to clean the plate on your TV... I hear crumbs don't help the picture none.

Three games in a row with Eduardo Escobar hitting cleanup.

That's roughly equivalent to Jason Tyner at DH.
