yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Hildenberger in the 7th, Giminez in the 8th.
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 It's hilarious to hear OUR announcers dog out the KC bullpen.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 That is interesting. Most teams are roughly half way through their schedules after today. 7 teams - almost HALF the league - are within 2 games of even .500. So, essentially there is a 7 team race for the second wild card spot.

glunn Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Thank God that Matt Belisle is here to save the day.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 MLB.com is saying that the Twins are signing Jelfry Marte, a Domican shortstop who is the #3 international prospect this year. I'm all for getting more talent, and many players who start out as shortstops move elsewhere, but I'm imagining a Twins' minor league team with seven shortstops, a pitcher, and a catcher! http://m.twins.mlb.com/news/article/239902156/twins-agree-with-intl-prospect-jelfry-marte/?topicId=27118388
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Hildenberger has some filthy stuff. I'd love to see him get some more high leverage innings.
DJSim22 Provisional Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Thank God that Matt Belisle is here to save the day. Do people even realize he's given up 1 earned run in his last 10 2/3?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Do people even realize he's given up 1 earned run in his last 10 2/3? My impression is Belisle has either been effective or terrible, kind of like Big Erv (except Ervin is either fantastic or terrible)
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Hildenberger is looking like he might stick. SSS, but his stuff looks good.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Do people even realize he's given up 1 earned run in his last 10 2/3? Correct, but he allowed 5 runs to score while he pitched those innings. Those inherited runs don't count as earned but he should still be held somewhat responsible.
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Do people even realize he's given up 1 earned run in his last 10 2/3? Going into today, Belisle had inherited 17 runners and 13 scored. Pressley and Rogers have been worse though(with inherited runners).
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Castro had a hot start to 2017, but I'd rather see Gimenez get the bulk of the playing time for now.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 I think Hildenberger is running out of gas.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Detroit scored six runs off Cleveland in the bottom of the 9th... but Cleveland still won 11-8
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Going into today, Belisle had inherited 17 runners and 13 scored. Pressley and Rogers have been worse though(with inherited runners).when has Rogers been worse than Belisle?
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Detroit scored six runs off Cleveland in the bottom of the 9th... but Cleveland still won 11-8What the hell happened to their bullpen?
DJSim22 Provisional Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Going into today, Belisle had inherited 17 runners and 13 scored. Pressley and Rogers have been worse though(with inherited runners). Agreed that is brutal, I just was trying to point out the Belisle angst has been a bit misplaced lately.
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 when has Rogers been worse than Belisle?with inherited runners this year, which is the stat I was talking about. 16 runners inherited, 14 scored.
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 What the hell happened to their bullpen?one bad day with a huge lead. best AL bullpen ERA and FIP going into today.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Agreed that is brutal, I just was trying to point out the Belisle angst has been a bit misplaced lately. If he's still giving up runs, credited to him or not, that isn't exactly something that is going to suddenly think he's reliable.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 with inherited runners this year, which is the stat I was talking about. 16 runners inherited, 14 scored.Rogers has not allowed 14 of 16 inherited runners to score, or has he?
DJSim22 Provisional Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Correct, but he allowed 5 runs to score while he pitched those innings. Those inherited runs don't count as earned but he should still be held somewhat responsible. Agreed, although not all inherited runs are created equal. If you come into an inning with zero outs and runners on second and third as an example, I would expect those runs to score most times as opposed to a guy coming in with two outs and a runner on first to face a same handed hitter. I guess I'm just saying it's a very vague stat and I don't have any clue to know the situations Belisle, Rogers, or anyone else has faced. 13-17 on the surface looks pretty bad I'll admit.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 What the hell happened to their bullpen? The guy who started the 9th had an off day, I guess

Pressley and Rogers have been worse though(with inherited runners). Where are you getting that from?? According to this, Belisle has allowed 4 of 17 inherited runners to score. Rogers has allowed 2 of 16 inherited runners to score. Pressly has allowed 1 of 12 to score. Duffey has allowed 6 of 19 inherited runners to score. Breslow has allowed 5 of 18 to score. And for reference, Andrew Miller has allowed 4 of 20 to score/
