wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Because I think he could be above average defensively wherever he plays honestly. and it would give the Twins more positional flexibility. Moving Sano to DH and having him play 1st 1/3 of the timen as well as an option at 3rd occasionally while adding a good power hitting 1st baseman. Probably a stupid idea I must admit.I see where you're going with it, but I don't see how it gets you any additional benefit. You'd still have Mauer at a power hitting position and potentially worse defense. The solution would be to find a power hitting 3B and keep Mauer at 1B. Sano could still spell either corner in that case.
Huddy Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Has Mauer gotten a big hit in the last five years?I'm so tired of him.Walkoff vs Boston. I can't think of many others though.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 And Grossman butchered that fly ball down the line.

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 No he didn'tToo much beer, too much sun, too many years on the eyes aren't a good combination.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 The good news is that we only have two more 4th of julys with Phil Hughes on the roster
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 The good news is that we only have two more 4th of julys with Phil Hughes on the rosterHorrible extension. Was horrible when it was made, and it continues to haunt us.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 God there is so much work that needs to be done to our pitching staff to make us competitive. It hurts my brain.

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 New FO was handed almost nothing to work with. While true, it's not as though they did much to improve it in the offseason. They don't get a total pass on this staff.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 New FO was handed almost nothing to work with. They were handed something right on their doorstep. Only problem is that it was on fire and needed to be stomped on.
Huddy Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 New FO was handed almost nothing to work with.Hey! Kohl Stewart didn't walk 17 people in a game for once. Positive thoughts

jimmer Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Gotta wonder how long its gonna take to get the starting pitching up to speed...At least three more years.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Gotta wonder how long its gonna take to get the starting pitching up to speed...By the time the pitching staff gets to where it needs to be, then the offense will be regressing. As full metal jacket says, we're in a world of s***

HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Geezzzzz, I remember when the MLB teams rarely had starting pitchers with ERA's over 4....
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 http://www.foxsports.com/north/story/minnesota-twins-boston-red-sox-joe-mauer-walk-off-home-run-050517On June 8th, I posted this: 'Yesterday, I was watching the KC game and they brought up a statistic that showed Mauer tied for 2nd in game winning RBI for the AL.' He had 9 at the time. We had only won 29 games at the time. But I guess it only matters when it's at the very end of the game.
jun Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Right now Polanco is just an automatic out like Buxton. If he can't draw walks, he is even worse than Buxton. I would be happy to see Polanco and Vargas to sit on the bench more.

jimmer Verified Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 I don't know who Morris has been watching over the years, but it's not the Hosmer I have been watching.
