ashbury Verified Member Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 The google woman who lives in my new smart phone seems thrilled that the Twins are winning. I wonder if she is programmed that way or is actually a Twins fan.I advise caution. glunn, bighat, Jerr and 2 others 5
bighat Verified Member Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Not sure what Duffey did to get pulled. Pitched too well? Bringing in Rogers to pitch to Encarnacion seemed like a bad idea.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2017 Author Posted June 24, 2017 Got myself a bowl of ice cream as a reward for a hard week at work. Bad Ice Cream is still pretty dang good but... Why did my wife have to buy bad ice cream? Bark's Lounge and glunn 2
glunn Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 She sounds very enthusiastic when she announces that the Twins are "leading".And when I ask her for the score in the Indians game she tells me that the Indians are trailing and she sounds a little sad about that. I think that she has been programmed to be happy when the team you ask about is winning and sad when the team you ask about is losing. Jerr and Riverbrian 2

PDX Twin Verified Member Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 I like LaTroy in the booth too, he's good. I think he talks over the game a bit too much sometimes...he's not yet comfortable with those silent moments. But he's getting there! I agree. Good broadcasting is all about matching the style of whatever sport you are covering. Vin Scully and Al Michaels had the perfect style for baseball. This is why the sound is always off when an American broadcaster attempts to narrate a football (soccer to Americans) game. Football requires the same kind of patient, relaxed narration as baseball does, but the American broadcasters seem to have the (incorrect!) attitude that "this is a boring game so I have to act excited about every pass to keep the viewers interested." Drives me nuts! Monkeypaws 1

Drives me nuts! I've stated this before... I really have no problem with any of the Twins announcers... Regular or Occasional fill in. However... I do believe that the time has come for the next generation of baseball announcers and the new guys are going to have to be able to work with increased graphics and statistical breakdowns. In the future... players will be wearing Fit Bit type devices and the announcer is going to have to talk about how the pitchers heart rate is racing with the bases loaded, 1 out and 1 run lead in game 7 of the world series. glunn and Jerr 2

At just under 20 feet tall, Trevor has a pronounced downward plane to his 155 mph fastball. The catcher is wearing a specially padded 4-inch thick glove to catch Hildenberger's first pitch...
