I think the point was, they should have taken another top player at 37 or after Enlow. It was for me.

That wasn't exactly my point. There were plenty of top 100 guys left on the board in Round 11. We had overnight to negotiate with them and I'm sure we had a pretty good idea of where we were at in terms of our cap. Just like with the Enlow pick. I expected a high school flyer at pick 11-1. See what you can save with some under slot guys, use the 700k (5%) extra and make an offer. Worst case, you lose your 11th round pick. Best case you get another top 100 guy.

I'm not lamenting our draft. Still lots of signings to take place. We'll see where we land. My point was, if we don't bump up against $14.8M, we did something wrong.

fair, I meant to type at 37 or round 11 (or even rounds 5-10, imo). But, given how the game works, probably after round 8 or so....

Re: Enlow.   He is on his way to the Cities for his physical.  The announcement of his signing will happen soon afterwards, likely this weekend.  It is all agreed upon.  Just the timing of the logistics is such that seems delayed...

According to his twitter he is signing today!

Unless he is taking a job at Best Buy

LaVelle posted on twitter that Bechtold has signed for $600k. Quite a bit more than slot. Was that expected?

Maybe. He had options of going back to school. 600k is around #91 pick and BA had him listed as #95. Seems reasonably fair.

I read on a couple of these kids. They talk of their commitment to go to a school.  Going up to the max over without losing a draft pick  really doesn't get them first round money.  It is unlikely  they will sign. The Twins did draft 3 top 200 talents in the later rounds.  They do have the money to go after them.

I do hope we use all our money plus the 5% over amount. But that would require the Pohlad's to spend money so ...

I know we all have fun with the Pohlads/Money jokes, but were talking about $1M here. We aren't talking about signing a $100M free agent. If we can't pony up an extra million for a draft we are in the drivers seat of, then I don't know what the point of any of this is.

It isn't so much using all the money, but using all the money to play the game to get more high end talent. I'm not convinced they did that, but I'm not convinced they didn't either. It's kind of hard to tell at this point. It's really all about Lewis and Enlow at this point, since those were there two really big decisions.

They drafted a few guys late that they could sign for overslot amounts and use the rest of the money. I'm not smart enough to say player ranked 102 is better than player ranked 152 on BA'd draft board. I just want them to sign the extra guys with the money.

I seem to recall reading that perhaps half of all teams don't spend their entire bonus pool?  It was a comment around here, though, with no data or link...

Would be interesting to see that breakdown (and how it shakes out for teams picking first, of course).

Any updates?

MLB Daily Dish has us signing everyone in our top 10 except Leach so far. Callis reported on Enlow signing for 2 mil today. I'm also wondering about pick 11 Gabriel Rodriguez. It's usally a high upside pick.

Could've swore I saw that Leach came to terms. Can't find it now

Check @jackkeyez. Looks like a UT student. Claims Leach said he's signing this weekend.

According to those numbers we are over by around $400k. Do we make that up with the Leach signing or are we using it as part of our 5% we are allowed over slot?

Imagine we will save some with Leach and use it on our 11 pick

I do hope they have enough cash to bring this kid in.  That's usually what those HS picks are for after round 10.  Grab a few and see which one(s) will jump on board for whatever cash you have left.

I would be pretty surprised if they don't have him locked in after having the night to negotiate. Probably just waiting for Leach to sign to save enough cash.

This isn't exactly concrete proof but pretty sure the Twins have signed Leach and he's in town, just saying I saw a brand new GT Mustang with Ontario plates in the players lot yesterday for this first time this summer this weekend.  So either Leach is here or Balazovic got a brand new whip.

Intrasquad game action is set for GCL this afternoon.

Posted an update. Leach is only bonus that is not exact. Things are going to be really tight.

Yea, running through the numbers it looks like we will have to dig into our 5% to sign anyone else beyond the 10th round

29 signed which is a very high number... Sign that Falvine are clearing MiLB chaff? Doubt any HS kids will be signed... This may be our final list. Just add $ signs behind the names listed.

I'm holding out hope that we can add our 11th round guy. All in all, I really like what the Twins got accomplished.

So provided that we sign Leach for about what we have left are we allowed to go 5% over our full pool on the remaining rounds? is that how it works or is it just 5% over on the top 10 rounds? I would like to see Rodriguez and Cade Smith sign but not sure if we have the money

You can go over 5% for first 10 rounds. In rounds 11-40 you have a cap of $100K per player. If anyone goes over the $100k than that incremental amount goes towards the first 10 rounds money and the 5%
