The way I look at it is, they have been in the hunt 2 of the last 3 years. 

You could also say the Reds drafted Greene and the Reds have been a terrible franchise for a few years now.

 

Then I could retort that they hired a new GM a couple of years back and he hasn't had time to mold the franchise.

 

Then we could go in circles over the subject for hours.

Just keep in mind that many Twins fans absolutely skewered the Twins for drafting Mauer over Prior.   Fans know virtually nothing.

Just keep in mind that many Twins fans absolutely skewered the Twins for drafting Mauer over Prior.

 

Fans know virtually nothing.

And a freak injury to Prior being tossed over Marcus Giles' shoulder around the bases and it might have been a bad call.

 

 

 

Prior grabbed his shoulder after the collision, wincing with pain, but eventually walked off the field to cheers. Prior stayed in the game, and struck out two of the next three batters he faced after the collision before leaving the game in the fifth.

A lot of Twins fans complained about the Twins signing the local boy stud Minnesota prep guy? Weird.

Yep. And they were hardcore statheads. That board is where I first learned about sabr and nearly all the posters on the board were deep into the emergent analysis of baseball stats.

The fact that Radcliff still has one of the largest says in this organization is exactly the problem.

 

Radcliff, like Ryan, Gardy and Tom kelley all had a fine run, but like the rest the game passed them by.

Yep, the top of the 2001 draft class was damned impressive. It's a bummer what happened to Prior.

Yeah you really couldn't go wrong with Mauer, Prior or Tex.

 

If Prior had any other manager his first few years he likely would be a hall of famer.

 

Tex put up 51.8 WAR as a first baseman and in his prime was one of the best hitters in all of baseball (perennial 35 hr 120 RBI guy) 5 seasons of .930 OPS or higher etc

Also to be fair, Tex has more career WAR then Mauer.

 

I'm still glad we drafted Mauer, but saying the people who wanted to draft Tex over Mauer were "wrong" is a weird thing to bring up. Since both ended up being elite players.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Twins draft room right now. Who are they trying to get at 35?

 

Hiura had BA's best hit tool. Gonna need TJS tho, then probably land at 2B.

I cannot get mlb.com draft tracker to work.  Any other site have a working draftcast?

Not that I know of. You using chrome?

I was having problems too. Seems like BA went down for a bit. Kept getting a server error. Reload MLB. Draft tracker seems to be working now.

Overdraft of Burger I think, he didn't even lead his own team in HR with 22, which tells you something about the hitting environment (the MVC is a decent enough conference though).
