Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I so appreciate Buxton as a fielder.Gotta say, though, it's really difficult to watch him bat.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I gave some graduation speeches when i was on the local school board. The secret to my success was to start with a promise to be brief then keep that promise.Supposedly Mark Twain once said that there are three keys to a good speech: 1-Have a good introduction.2-Have a good conclusion. 3-Have the two as close together as possible.

Tried this with dating back in the day, doesn't work near as well.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Boy, between exams, the Comey thing, and the UK election today, got precious litle time to check in--- How's it going? Uh-oh... single, walk, this has all the markings of a Snapper-Gibby-Meltdown inning.... Come on, tall man, hang on.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I think he was confused on strike three because he was trying to follow the hecklers advice, and since the heckler couldn't figure out what he was saying it ended up really bad advice.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Does that count as a shutdown inning?

Wait I probably shouldn't do that tonight.
Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Is the thread so slow because there is no place to dine in Seattle?I heard that there are no restaurants. If you are truly a Washington citizen you are supposed to catch salmon with your bare hands and eat them raw (you are allowed to throw away the head and the tail). What else can we segue into? Airplanes? I don't know much about airplanes.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Does that count as a shutdown inning? I think it was a snapper mow em down inning

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 What else can we segue into? Airplanes? I don't know much about airplanes. I dated a flight attendant if that's helpful to the discussion, with the disclaimer that it was ultimately in no way helpful to me. Westerburg was right when he wrote "Waitress in the Sky".
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Just got here. How is Gibson doing?
Whammy Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Have the Twins executed a hit and run once this year? Feels like no.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Whoops, now I wish I hadn't asked...
Whammy Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Just got here. How is Gibson doing?Starting to nibble
Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Just got here. How is Gibson doing? About like you'd expect. He looks pretty good and now things are going poorly. We are ahead 2-1.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 LOLOLOLOLOL. "Defense." As long as it doesn't mutate into a shooting spree.
Whammy Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Nice play Bux. Just like a 2 run homer
NDagri Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 If Gibson can get trough 6 innings with less than2 earned runs, I will start to say his name withouta preceding expletive ending in ...ing
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Can't hit a ball much harder than Kano just did. Good catch, Buxton!
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Good gracious the defense on this guy
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 We've all seen what Gibson can do if he pitches inside and uses his breaking stuff, mixes it up. He could win 15 to 20 games. Gibson's four-seam heater should mostly be used for chin music.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 If GMs got together and voted for the player they'd most want to have to draw fans for a single season with a 100 loss team, I have to think Buxton would get a bunch of first place votes. Starters only draw once every five games, and the most prolific power hitters go deep about once every fourth game. But Buxton makes a defensive play almost every game that would make you feel good about paying the price of admission.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I've only checked in the last couple innings, but it seems Gibby's doing what he needs to do, even if it looks something like this.... Or am I off-base?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Speaking of relievers with upper 90's heat, why not call up Melotakis? Twins should get some value from their young flamethrowers before their next stint on the DL.

Or am I off-base? That's about right. With his last run-saving catch, Buxton leads the balloting for the game's MVP - Most Valuable Parasol.
