Can someone explain why Eric Young can get a HBP when his foot was on home plate?

The same way Dozier winds up striking out after ball 4 was called a strike.

Well that took 2 games longer than I expected.

Gibson shuts him down and Ervin gives up the grannie. Figure those odds.

Pujols is one of my favorite players ever.  Obviously I'd rather him not do well against us, but he did.

So CONGRATS!

And that's when this fan decides to turn in before 11 pm, rather than watching more of a West Coast prison-beating. Oh, well, good to see a little MLB history before hitting the pillow.

Good night, everyone.

Don't go now, you're gonna miss the bullpen!

Favorite non-Twins player of all-time -- who do you got?

I'll go with, in some order:

Lou Brock

Mariano Rivera

Albert Pujols

Honorable mention to Yount, Molitor (as a Brewer), Schmidt, Edmonds, Freeman.

All time? I'll go back to Cepeda and Marichal.

When it comes to getting hit by a pitch, it doesn't matter where you're standing, just as long as you're not leaning in to the pitch or making an effort to try to get hit.  Had Young made contact with the bat with a foot on the plate, it would have been dead ball and he'd have been called out.  Had he not pulled the bat back in time, it would have been a strike despite the fact he got hit by the pitch.

My list is weird:

Sandberg

Nolan

Bip Roberts

ARod (Seattle edition only)

Brett Butler

Barry Larkin

IRod

Cecil Fielder

Trammel and Whitaker

Mickey Tettleton (glacial DH edition only)

I don't like the Tigers, but there are several on my list. Can't stand ARod, but loved watching him as a Mariner. Like the Cubs, but only Sandberg enough to put him on the list.  And I think I just like Bip's name, and also that you could call him "The Dread Pirate Roberts!" when he stole a base.

Roberto Clemente, Nolan Ryan, Pedro Martinez and Francisco Lindor. It could have included Cesar Cedeno but "the seventies."

Tony Gwynn

He was in many ways the NL mirror image of Puckett, right down to batting left-handed.

Dammit! I was hoping I'd have a shot at catching no. 600 tomorrow.

The kid who got it seems a little dazed and goofy. You might be able to trade him some shiny objects for it.

Max Kepler has been coming onto his own recently. The combination of Mauer-Sano-Kepler has been very dangerous so far.

Meanwhile, I think Polanco's in a small slump, I'd like to see some better hitting from him. I think he has the capability to hit similarly to Kepler.

May have been more of a family man.

I like to pimp Eddie Rosario. I like his cocksureness and his edge. He has the chance to be an all-star player. He could ultimately fail as well.

Saying that, Kepler is sure and steady and I think he is a lock to be 25HR and .280BA player with an ops over .800. We hit the jackpot with this guy.

Yeah, well, I'd be a bit dazed and goofy too if I caught Pujol's 600th home run.

Not arguing, but isn't having your foot on home plate "leaning in" per se?
