jud6312 Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Based solely on that EE AB, I think we've seen enough to know who the new #5 starter should be.
Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Yeah, it's pretty early, but which Twins field players can pitch an inning?Eduardo Escobar has a career 0.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP for the one inning he pitched last year. I think Molly will use this as an opportunity to see what Wilk, Breslow and Haley have. It is up to you to determine whether he is trying to embarrass Flavine or looking to see what is really available to him.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Wilk at his best is Pat Dean. At his worst is me (I throw right handed).
Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Down by a few runs and the conversation dies out here.Alas...Happy Mother Day to all you Mothers!
Twinsoholic Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 New adage: do not make the third out at home (unless) you are in the field on defense)!
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 New adage: do not make the third out at home (unless) you are in the field on defense)!looked like Kepler hesitated before breaking for home. Awful baserunning...you break on contact, thereby eliminating the chance of exactly what happened. Either the first baseman comes home, and the hitter is safe, or he gets the out at first, and the runner scores. But don't hesitate, then break for home. Simple, basic, fundamental baseball.
Twinsoholic Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 With a runner on Will raises his right leg then puts it down and then goes into his pitching motion and delivers the pitch. Why?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Today's game has just the fainted whiff of 'We already won this road series' to it. And I don't mean the lineup or the effort. When Kepler was thrown out at home on that very close play, his reaction was not 'SAFE!SAFE!SAFE!', it was 'Hey, man, we're in first place and we already have this road series won; if I'm out, that's cool'. I'm not even down on them, I just think they're so happy about being in first and were out of this game so early that it's been sort of a '... Hey... pink bats.... groovy, man.' kind of game for them.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Wilk does have a low, darting pitch, looks like maybe a cutter. If he keeps that low, he could be a ground ball machine. His curves are nothing special, but okay as a change of pace. There it was again, that darting pitch low in the zone. Why doesn't he throw more of those?? Wilk is an odd duck as a pitcher. Seems to have inconsistent mechanics. There, he just got a strike out with that low heater. Only 89 mph, but it's low in the zone, sinking. I guess I can see why the Twins were intrigued by Wilk. He has moments where he looks like he could dominate, but then he changes something, and the next moment he looks like he's tossing batting practice. Not reliable.
Twodogs Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I'm pretty sure those first few laser beams Wilk gave up were nerves. This is the inning where we see the real guy The real guy is Tommy Milone
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Not our day. Yep. It certainly wasn't Santiago's day, and then it kind of became 'not our day' for the rest of the boys.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Sano sliding into second with all the grace of Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak attempting the samba on 'Dancing with the Stars'. But hey, a rally is a rally. Ooh, ouch. Bremer adds the ultimate Twinsult to Chisenhall's wall collision injury on the Vargas double by calling his play "Butch Huskey - like". That's gonna leave a mark.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Deficit down to six. Two more runs in innings 7-9 and we're off to extras!
Twinsoholic Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Kepler looks at strike three. He needs to follow the advice of Dozier's mom: you gotta swing the bat!
Jerr Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Ok, I'm back now time for the Twins to win this for their Moms!!!!!PLENTY of game left to do just that!!!!!!
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I was kind of hoping he wouldn't do that in a game like this. But he did it and it was amazing.
drock2190 Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Well Buxton is out for the next 3 games now. But he made a top 10 catch
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Buxton showing Chisenhall the right way to run into the center field wall with that incredible catch. And Polanco knocks out Bauer. Which is too bad, in a way, since they were more likely to score off of him than the Indians bullpen. The Twins' scoreless 5th with no outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd looms large right about now.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 If Statcast has the catch percentage of that in double digits I'm never trusting them again.
Jerr Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Plainly the Indians have failed to heed the baseball axiom that the most dangerous lead is eight runs.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Looks like Shaw wasn't prepared mentally. CBU: Scratch that. We weren't prepared mentally to hit Rosario home from 2nd.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I was kind of hoping he wouldn't do that in a game like this. "You just don't turn it off!!!!" http://s3.crackedcdn.com/articleimages/wong/rambonovel2.jpg
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Brantley 0-4 for the Indians today. That's what he gets for working overtime in the mail room at Pemrose yesterday. http://c7.alamy.com/comp/D23KH0/das-geheimnis-meines-erfolges-secret-my-success-michael-j-fox-bauernjunge-D23KH0.jpg
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Wilk did not dominate, but at least he held the line for a while.
