So, with the Twins sporting 103 losses, I was thinking about the number 103.

-103 is the 27th prime number,  and each team gets 27 outs in a regulation baseball game.

-103 is a happy number, except for when it's the number in the loss column for your favorite baseball team.

-103 is the atomic number for lawrencium, which we all know was named after Jennifer Lawrence.

-The Roman Numeral for 103 is CIII.  The Albatros C-III was a German two-seat general-purpose plane introduced in 1916.  In 1916, the Boston Red Sox played the Brooklyn Robins (who would eventually become the Los Angeles Dodgers).  Will the Red Sox and Dodgers face each other in the 2016 World Series?

-Day 103 on a standard Julian Day Calendar is April 13.   Some things that happened in baseball history on April 13th are:
--  April 13th, 1926, Walter Johnson, at age 41, pitches his 7th          opening day shutout.
--  April 13th, 1954, Hank Aaron plays his first MLB game.
--  April 13th, 1963, Pete Rose records first hit on his MLB                career, a triple.
 --  April 13th, 1984, Pete Rose records 4,000th hit.
--  April 13th, 2016, Twins lose their 8th consecutive game to            start the season 0-8.

-Day 103 on a leap year Julian Day Calendar is April 12.  Leap years are when we hold Presidential elections in the United States.  So instead of focusing on what happened in baseball history on April 12th, let's look at some things that happened in American history in the political arena on April 12th.  They include:
-- April 12th, 1861, The American Civil War began when                 Confederate forces fired on Fort Sumter.
-- April 12th, 1945, President Roosevelt dies in office.
-- April 12th, 1999, President Clinton is cited for contempt of            court for giving intentionally false statements in a sexual              harassment lawsuit.
-- April 12th, 2015, Hillary Clinton announces she will, for the          2nd time, seek the Democratic Nomination for President.

So there we have it, good ole number 103.  Here's to hoping we don't need to think about the numbers 104 and 105.  GO TWINS!

While I am not sure if there is such a term, this years Twins have made it very difficult to come up with imaginative 'negative superlatives'! :)

Thanks for posting the lineups.  I just got back from my nephew's birthday party and saw it was taken care of.

I really hope they don't actually expect Phil Hughes to contribute in any sort of meaningful way next year, because thats a terrible plan.

He had one outlier year in 2014.  In reality, he's a mediocre pitcher.  Better than Gibson, but still.

I more meant because of the surgery he is coming off of, but yeah, in a perfect world we'd put in him the pen if he's healthy enough to be pitching for us.

"Paul simply hasn't been able to manage much this year. How can you blame him..."

Plenty of ways, Dick. Plenty of ways.

And prior to that they're talking about how we need to improve the defense. Yeah, sure, but an outfield of 3 Byron Buxtons and Andrelton Simmons at every infield position and our pitching is still bottom 3 in the league.

and Hughes is signed until 2019??

But just think about how much money we saved by signing him to that early extension!

With the new FO structure, there should be more common sense contracts.  Hopefully   :)
