There seems to be an ad or two that stretch the site horizontally on mobile that makes it unreadable. Or something in a post.

Yeah, I started noticing that. If it keeps up, I'm going to address the problem, I haven't had the time yet with all the deadline stuff bouncing around and planning/updating on the fly.

Last couple days an ad has stretched the site wider than my phone's screen.... No idea which one. And it is intermittent.

Yeah, I'm currently chasing my own tail on this one. I thought I had it resolved yesterday and it came right back, still trying to figure out how to prevent it.

Bump with a question - Could Twins Daily do better with subscribers and minimized/no advertising?

TD does offer a subscription to those who want it … check this out here. You will see that ad free is in two of the choices

Thanks.  I did not see that part.  Please have a like.

Unfortunately, I also missed, "Caretaking is subscribing to the site..."  Misunderstood that term to mean that it was just a supplementary form of income to the ads.  One or the other is an improvement.

Subscriptions and no ads for all would be the ideal state of affairs, given the corruption in online advertising.  However, that is a call for the people in charge of this sites books.

Are you suggesting we put the entire site behind a paywall? I'm sorry but that's a kiss of death to the forums and blog section.

Understand the pinch, and not suggesting anything.  It's the call of those of you who own the site.  Without uniform user data privacy laws in major jurisdictions it's a devil of a choice to make.  There is no going back to the days of internet advertising without scripts, trackers and cookies (how many people remember hit counts?).

Now that I understand that "caretaking" = subscribing as an alternative to ads, I'm inclined to subscribe.

See you at the ball park!

I concur. Even with gold caretaker status, I’m still seeing lots of ads, until/unless I refresh the screen I am on, then they go away and ‘back to normal’

I know this comment doesn’t belong in this forum but my god have ads absolutely ruined this website. There are so many pop ups and and videos that play every time you scroll down. I have to exit some new ad 10 times just trying to read an article.

I will get hollered at too,  but I couldn't agree more.  One of the hardest sites to read that I go on.  It is hard to stay away, because the folks here are great, but it is a frustrating site.

And using the phone is even worse than computer!! Nearly impossible.

Super cool that so many are HAPPY to deprive this site and its creators of their sole revenue source.

Anybody who brings up specifics about ad blockers is getting warning points. Using a tech workaround to take away 100% of the revenue that literally dozens of people use to keep this site operational is ******, especially because WE OFFER AN AD-FREE VERSION.

I'm so ****ing sick of freeloaders, especially ones who boast about how awesome they are for doing it.

I'm not sure whether to call this ad a pop-up or maybe an "interstitial" - it's an ad for Brex, something credit-card-related. It "pops up" while an article is loaded, but fills the entire screen so it interrupts reading altogether, and takes a bit of time to do so.

I just read a page and a half of comments on a single article and in the time it took me to do so, this ad took over the screen six or seven times. Absolutely get that ad revenue keeps the site going, but this rendered it basically unreadable today.

Okay, this is the second complaint I’ve seen about this today. If anyone sees this happen (full screen ads), screen shot and PM me the screenshot. I have interstitial ads disabled because they’re so annoying; users should never see them.

For some time now, when I go to a thread, it expands horizontally on my phone. I'm assuming an ad is too wide? Pretty much every time I open a thread. Android, chrome.

Not getting better

This morning I've had the issue where a page constantly shifts up and down as new ads (above the part I was reading) load at different sizes. I used to get this frequently on mobile (Safari/iOS) and rarely or never on desktop (Firefox or Chrome.) Then the issue went away, and today it's back. This time I'm seeing it on desktop.
