Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 We watched ARC, which I believe is a Netflix movie last weekend, really good.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 God, I loved that show.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09QsPmSCyGw I woke up my wife during this episode because I was literally crying from laughter. Kneeling in front of Christ the Redeemer was too much for me bear.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NK5OKOHCa8Horatio was one of my "brilliant" Halloween costume ideas in college... Anytime I won or lost in beer pong, or needed a new beer, the sunglasses had to come on.
jimmer Verified Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Did anyone ever watch the recent BBC America series 'The Musketeers'? Fantastic series with amazing acting in it.
joethastud Provisional Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Haha. Was Horatio the ORIGINAL meme? I'm glad a few people got the joke!
biggentleben Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 In general, I'm not looking for exceptional when I'm watching television. I'm watching for entertainment, so if you can get me to invest in characters or make me laugh, I'll probably return. Shows like Big Bang Theory, SVU, Criminal Minds, and NCIS have had my investment in character(s) in the show, so I still watch them. Of course, I still have Arrow and Flash that I record each week. One show not mentioned on here (I don't think) was Gotham, and I am disappointed in this season after two solid seasons of the show. There's enough to keep me coming back, but I'll not continue going forward if the show doesn't go somewhere better over this season.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 I get a couple nights, mostly Sundays for TV adult style. I envy those of you who can watch less Paw Patrol and more South Park.

It has managed to become a campier, more farcical version of Batman than the glorious Adam West version. Except only one version was actually going for campy and farce and it wasn't Gotham. I like how they've developed certain characters, but the story arc in season 2 went down hill in a hurry and season 3 is down right bad.

They never had an endgame. And then it became "villain cameo of the week" for cheap thrills. The Fish/Penguin storyline was a complete fiasco. And when I check on it they seem to still have that going on?

She has been sort of bumped out for a few weeks now, but they seem to bring her back in. Penguin rising to prominence in a legitimate way in Gotham could be handled so well.

Penguin rising to prominence in a legitimate way in Gotham could be handled so well. It's what I thought, early on, they were doing. And then it veered so badly off the tracks it was hard to believe. It should have been a slow build for Penguin building his criminal element and his role as Gotham's most legitimate mobster. Instead....we got this @^*%-fest.

My wife and I clutch to our Sunday nights of John Oliver, Westworld, Thrones, TWD and carved out time for Fargo and Better Call Saul, but we have to make a determined effort every time. I can quote some Blaze and the Monster Machine episodes almost word for word though. If that has any value. Does it? ashbury 1

Does it?I am convinced the next life is going to be one crazy trip, based on the kinds of things we are being programmed to memorize in this life in preparation for it. Norm Cash batting .361 in 1961, Chico Fernandez hitting .248 that same year... Princess Bride and Monty Python zingers and now I find out I have to study up on Blaze and the Monster Machine too... it's gonna be weird, I'm telling you.

PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Westworld continues to intrigue. Ed Harris is fantastic.Agreed. The past two episodes have really pushed the narrative forward without diminishing depth or world-building. I still don't see how they get more than one or two seasons out of this, but I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts. TheLeviathan 1

But I like the idea of a show knowing its story and telling it, even if it is short lived. But yes, the last two episodes have continued to plant really interesting bread crumbs. I'm fully invested in this show.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 It's definitely been a slow burn on Westworld, but it is coming along nicely.

I haven't watched Westworld yet - it's going to be a binge for me - but I routinely lament how American television mercilessly flogs ideas until you can no longer remember why you liked the material. Imagine how amazing Lost could have been if the writers went into the series with the plan "four seasons and go home". PseudoSABR, TheLeviathan and Vanimal46 3

We're sorting of doing that with the Walking Dead, but that show is losing me. I think it already lost my wife. She's hate watching now.
