Is it more painful to be Twins Fan or Vikings Fan?

Vikings fan due to the agony of the losses - Darrin Nelson dropped pass in '87, 1998 missed FG against Atl,  Overtime loss to Saints with 6 fumbles, too many men in the huddle and not touching the ball in OT, missed chip shot FG last year - many more I have probably wiped from my mind including the humiliating shutout against the Giants in 2000 Championship game.   As others have mentioned the Twins have won the big one twice in my lifetime - coming through in the big moments.   Yes, their long seasons of futility can be torture but they have won it all which provides warm thoughts in dark times. 

 

Something that put Teddy's injury in perspective for me, seeing the ambulance on the field reminded me of 2000 and Korey Stringer losing his life at training camp.  So it is a terrible injury and puts a damper on this season but it has been much worse.  

 

That was a terrible pass, Nelson would have tackled short anyway. That play was not on him...

It's far more painful to be a Vikings fan and it ain't even close.

 

For one thing, the Twins have won TWO World Series, the Vikings are 0-4 in Super Bowls and have lost their last 4 NFC Championship games as well (2 of which were in the most heart-breaking fashion as well)

 

Plus you have Walsh's kick, and the Zona Hail Mary as well.

But I like the move, Bradford has never had any real talent around him, I'm anxious to see how well he does with a killer running game, and a decent corp of WR. The Vikings WR are hardly world beaters, but they look like Moss-Carter-Reed when compared to the garbage he was throwing at in STL.

I like Kaepernick quite a bit and I think he could be better than Bradford.

 

But Bradford IMO is the clear better fit for this offense at this time.

Exactly, 2015 would be applicable as well.

Sounds pretty familiar, yes. When you're close enough, pull out all the stops.

The beauty is, you don't even have to pull out all the stops, you just need to make one or two moves, while still not destroying the future. The Vikings still have 5 picks in the first four rounds next year anyways. Speilman is a great GM, he knows when to rebuild (stockpile picks etc) and then knows when to pull the trigger.

except that NFL picks can pay immediate benefits. Its not like waiting 4 or more years for you pick to be ready.

I must not have been clear....the Twins had minor leaguers, that teams wanted, that they could have traded for players at the MLB level.

 

Sure, those players might take time to develop, but they had minor league talent, and they held onto it for the most part. Most of those guys....not so good in retrospect.

Walker and Meyer had zero trade value last year.  Rosario was our starting OFer and wasn't going to be traded.  Cueto got a top pitching prospect (our equivalent would have been Berrios).  Phillies got a huge haul, including a top catching prospect.  A similar trade would have been something like Milone, Berrios, Kepler and Hu and I'm still not sure if that would have been a better package than what the Phillies got.

 

We certainly weren't going to get an ace without giving up a top prospect and Walker, Rosario and Meyer weren't top prospects.

I'm not a Vikings fan but I would say the Vikings because they've never actually won anything. But being a Minnesota sports fan in general can be pretty brutal. I don't know much about Bridgewater other than he's the Vikings hot young quarterback but when I heard about his injury my first thought was, "Well, that's typical for a Minnesota sports team." Sometimes I think we are like Sisyphus but our Scandinavian resolve makes us just keep going. Even now I know in a few months I will be looking forward to baseball season starting again - as they say, hope springs eternal.
