Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Lol ... I said that very intentionally because I know some of the current discussions in other threads. LaBombo Verified Member Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 (edited) Mauer. 10 big ones for the year! YEAH! That's one more than the total you get by adding his Fangraphs ZiPs, Steamer, and Depth Chart HR projections together. Let the Festive Dance of the Position Change Power Renaissance begin (a little behind schedule)! Edited August 17, 2016 by LaBombo Willihammer, twinssporto, USAFChief and 2 others 5
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 If this was 1909, Mauer would have edged out Ty Cobb for the HR title in the A.L. and defecated on his triple crown chances. Chew on that for a minute. Oh wait, yuck. Willihammer, USAFChief, twinssporto and 3 others 6

spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 So, how many of you have gotten a hole in one?Too bad spinowner isn't here; he could tell you all about the one he got back in high school playing the local course. And he got his name in the paper and everything!Just checked in and saw that I was mentioned. I'll tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.First of all, I've never been a good golfer. I'd usually hit 2 or 3 good shots in an 18-hole round. I think I've played once in the last 15 years.So. City Park-Rec tournament at the local 9-hole course, probably 1971, which made me 15 years old. Par 3, 170 yards or so, slightly uphill. I believe I used a 3-iron because I didn't know any better. I swung hard, hard enough that I lifted my head a little and bladed the shot. I'm surprised I didn't cut the ball. So it's basically a line drive that bounced once or twice and then bounced again right where the hole happened to be. The ball probably would have wound up 30 yards past the hole otherwise. I challenge anyone to describe a luckier, less-deserved ace. Hosken Bombo Disco and Squirrel 2
