Catching up with Brian Duensing

Started clicking random links at fangraphs and came across this little interview from Duensing regarding his time in MN, becoming a free agent, etc.

 

Interesting read.

Decent enough guy and alright pitcher over the years when he was here. His departure simply didn't register as a big deal to most casual Twins fans and feels like ancient and forgotten history at this point. Here's hoping he does well and has success in baseball and in retirement.

Probably the same amount of people that are part of his fan club.. But I wouldn't think it would be a hotselling item..

Duensing was more of a shirsey kind of player. Jersey was too much to pony up for a guy like that.

Thought for sure he was going to be comfortable in Royals land, since the minor league club was near his home. Go figure.

That ain't Buffett money but you can still do pretty well in Omaha on that. A couple of years ago the Marlins spent about $# 2 million per win.  Over his Twins career  Duensing produced 5 fwar. By FWAR he was not a loss.

Duensing was more of a shirsey kind of player. Jersey was too much to pony up for a guy like that.

Last year in Anaheim at a pre game bar, my son and I saw a fellow wearing a FIEN jersey. I bet my son that was his dad. I finally went over and asked him to settle our bet, and he confirmed and asked what I was hoping he would, "What made you think so, do I look like him?" "Not really, but who else is going to sport a FIEN jersey?" Laughter ensued, and we chatted for a few.... Nice guy.
