Head made of rubber and bottom made of springs?

That would have been a great costume! Though I don't think my mom would have wanted to carry me with a bottom made of springs... Imagine innocent, adorable little Vanimal in a tiger costume and a painted face.

I'd like to think I got the better costume than my older brother, who dressed as Eeyore.

No kidding! Too bad I'm not at my parents' house right now. In the spirit of this thread I would have searched and posted the picture of my first Halloween. Where I was, you guessed it, Tigger.

Classic. My daughter went as Eeyore for her first Halloween.

Crazy that was 12 years ago! Thanks for reminding me of that!

Sounds like you're in the beginning stages, or right in the meat grinder of being the dad of a teenage girl. To that I say "Oooh Child, things are going to get easier"

Because you know what it's like to be a parent of a teenaged girl?

Ha! Not yet. The world is scary enough already... No need to add to that now.

So raising a daughter is scary?

Raising a person in general is scary. I'm going to need some guidance if I were to become a parent. Especially when they're teenagers.

In all seriousness... I'll give you the best advice that I know

1. Love them and try to remember what it was like when you were young.

2.  Keep a close eye on their friends. If they got friends that you trust... It's going to be alight. If not... it's the only thing that can blow #1 out of the water.

3. Earn Money and get used to not having it after you earn it.

So raising a daughter is scary?

I have one child of each gender, and scary is one part of the overall mix of emotions that comes with raising any child.

Because of the fact that there are predators in our society, and women are much more likely to be the victim of many types of them, such as sexual assault and domestic violence, then yes there is a different kind of fear that comes with raising a daughter.

If someone believes that thought process makes me sexist, then I guess I will have to take my medicine on that.

I think those thoughts would be normal and not sexist.

There are plenty of things to worry about from viruses to maniacs with a Truck in Nice and as time goes by... new things will be added to the worry list.

It's right to be worried and it's normal but maintain balance because it's important... make sure they get their dose of happy, silly and loving life.

There is nothing better than a kid that smiles.

I bet your kids laugh at you a lot.

I have Twin daughters which everyone thought was cool since I liked the Twins. At the time I was just in shock to hear the news. In any case they were wonderful through the teenage years so I am lucky. They don't like baseball which is fortunate for them - they don't have to suffer watching the Twins.

Oh absolutely. Like I said, scary is just one of a mix of emotions that come with raising a child.

The good ones you get from them far outweigh the bad ones...most of the time!

My kids are all in their mid-thirties. And no, it doesn't get any easier. I keep thinking it will, some day. Maybe.

Yeah

If they don't... they know I'll keep trying... So Yeah... They learned to laugh so everyone can move on.
