LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I don't like farewell tour stuff. i just think it's wrong. I'm also not much of a huge fan of them to begin with. Having anything more than a cap tip for Ortiz just seems sad. An actual David Ortiz Night in the middle of an abysmal season like this one seems like what I would imagine it to be like to go to your ex's wedding... on a weekend pass from the workhouse. Only send-offy thing that I can really think of that sums up my indifference to the end of Ortiz's fine and rather remarkable career and very modest well-wish for him is probably just... Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2016 Author Posted June 11, 2016 I thought it was in poor taste for Brian or mention the editor. Up until now most had considered that the rambling incoherent musings he puts forth on a several day schedule were the product of his own, obviously pharmaceutically altered brain. (I use the word brain in its clinical tense). Now we find he has an editor, a mentor. It makes one shudder to imagine what could be, without such a filter to screen us from the original "thoughts". (I use the term "thoughts" with apology to Mr. Webster and his book). I ;need...her!!! She =knows, where all that; punctuation stuff " goes? Platoon, Bark's Lounge, HitInAPinch and 1 other 4
spinowner Provisional Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 "Well ya see, Norm, it’s like this… A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers."- Cliff Clavin, of CheersCliff was my hero and role model. He was a letter carrier and a know-it-all. I have been both things and still am one. Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 hahaha. That doesn't describe Jeter from everything I heard/read from/about him. Ortiz is, well, an egomaniac.Heh ... I thought the whole gift bag discussion from the other night clarified things. jimmer 1

That's the truth but that doesn't make it right.Nothing in the world can make those awful red things right. Not even a 30-game win streak while wearing them. I wouldn't even want to threaten .500 in those horrid rags. Question to anyone at the game-- when a team hauls out some new uni version, it's for the purpose of selling more swag to fans. Anybody see any of those red jerseys on some fans out there? Platoon and spinowner 2

(I use the term "thoughts" with apology to Mr. Webster and his book).I'm pretty sure his editor doesn't really consider the situation a mentor/mentee thing. It's more of a punctuation matters thing. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/lotrminecraftmod/images/9/97/Why-punctuation-matters-meme.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150311234719 I think the editor tries to keep things in as much of a natural state as possible, so the purity of Brian can be well experienced. But every once in a while punctuation does matter. formerly33 1
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I think Kepler should have stolen home on this pitcher. Watch for the knuckle ball grip, then take off. No way the catcher fields it cleanly, and the pitcher will probably deliver a wild ball anyway. spinowner and David HK 2
