Platoon Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 A guy had a ball that Ruth autographed from that time and was recently in the news. He is in his 90's and lives in Arizona if I remember. I saw that, I think it was MO, but not sure. The story I read was about 4 locals drove down to talk to him. If I rem M er right he lived alone at that age.
David HK Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Geez, took me too long to type that last thingy. The game already got lost in that time. Oh, well, off to a meeting, and now, looking forward to it.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 That's now 43 of 45 games in which we've trailed.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I was sad to hear the news of Gord Downie today. I know North is well aware of Gordie and also just as sad. Gord Downie is a Canadian legend as the lead singer and lyricist for the band "Tragically Hip" I am a huge fan of that band and Gordie was the heart and soul. He's still with us for now but it was released that he has terminal brain cancer and according to what I've read it's the absolute worst kind of cancer to get and the end is certain. Gordie and the Band are planning one last tour over the summer. If you are not familiar with them... I give them my highest recommendation.
hybridbear Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Ervin has had to throw a lot of pitches through the first 2 innings, this doesn't bode well for the Twins...
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Love Love Love the "Fargo" TV series. So many H'wood types really rockin' the Dakota/ 'Sota kinda speech. But when they gaffe, it stands out- like last season, they mentioned Sleepy Eye a couple of times, but with the accent on the EYE. "We're calling in the deputies from Sleepy EYE. I think they headed in the direction of Sleepy EYE..." Made me bark back out loud at the TV to correct them in the moment. Our youngest daughter move to Or'gun for a few years. We took the bike out to visit, and stopped at Crater Lake Park to ride through. Had to get a pass at one of those little booths. Two college age girls were working, and the one turned to the other and said, "don't you just love the way they talk" . She claimed to know we were Midwesterners by our accent. Dats chust cracee.

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Tonight is the twins 45th game, they have now trailed at least at some point in 44 of those games.

It's been a damn tough year for musical losses and more. One of my best friends is on the last leg of his life battling cancer. It's really hard to wrap your mind around. It is sadness that can't be expressed in a post.

bird Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 My dad always said, "Whoopee John Wilhfart, and the boys will play" Funny you should bring this up. True story, Whoopee John Wilfahrt was my very first concert. Second trimester of my life, according to my mother. This was always a troubling piece of information for me during my childhood.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Whit Merrifield? Cheslor Cuthbert? These aren't real guys right? Those aren't names.
Blake Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Pretty funny exchange between Dick and Bert. Dick: "Molitor says the team doesn't deal with adversity well. The team gets down a couple of runs and they don't know how to handle the situation." Bert: "Uh yeah, but the team is dealing with being down a run or four in the first couple innings night after night..." (paraphrased but I think I caught the gist of the exchange)
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Lookin like another shutdown inning!

David HK Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Maybe I'll just have a meeting with myself to get away from this. Ahhh, never mind. It'll probably descend into an argument anyway.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 That's now 43 of 45 games in which we've trailed. Not Fun with Numbers. I think I need to retitle that thread.
David HK Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 So, you're DanSan, leading off after your pitcher just had a harum-scarum inning. Let's just go ahead and not see any pitches, and hit a weak-a$$ groundball right away. This kind of stuff is on you, Molly. Oops- had to edit this one! In the time it took to type those 3 sentences, inning over. How many pitches? 5, or 6? THAT'S what an inning should look like after your team scores. Now get back out there, Ervin, I don't care if you've had time to pee or not.

It's on the player if they aren't listening to the coaching.
David HK Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Well, I'll have to check if they unblocked my Russian game feed. I wanna see what Vlad and Arkady had to say about that last inning.
