I used to say that if Plouffe is your cleanup hitter, nothing else needs to be said. Seeing Robbie in the 5 hole is making me rethink that long held supposition!

Apparently you can spend 2 1/2 years pulling everything, and play everyday, but when a reporter says TR says you need fixin, and don't agree, that's not a good idea!

Off topic, if there is such a thing around here, the Mets are looking for a 1b and also have a china doll 3b. Do we have anyone that could fill that bill?

MLBTR has a couple articles on the Mets.  In one, under "Creative Possibilities" they list Plouffe.  But that was for the 1st base opening.  Under "Controllable Bats":

 

"Meanwhile, the Twins are as buried as any team in baseball, but it’s not clear that any of their first basemen are really trade candidates. Byung-ho Park would be a significant piece to pursue given his contract and promising early major league results, and certainly looks to be a part of Minnesota’s plans for a hopeful renaissance in the near future."

 

If the Twins were actually selling, they could possibly work a deal as Plouffe for 1B now and veteran back for Wright later.
