Tracking the Twins every night throughout the early-to-mid 2000's was one of the great parts about growing up in the Dakota's. As a kid, playoff appearances were the lest of my expectations for the Twins on a year-to-year basis all the way through high school. Then beginning college I experienced my first (second, third, and fourth) 90+ loss seasons as a Twins fan, as well as a few other things! I became more detached from Twins baseball as it was difficult to watch and I used my spare time in the summer to pick up extra hours to pay for school. I then graduated in 2015 and moved to Minneapolis, full of nostalgia with meaningful baseball all the way though the last weekend. Despite falling short of the playoffs, our young talent had me, like everyone else, incredibly excited for the 2016 season. Now I've been trying to take some of the micro-positives out of the season like Mauer's early resurgence and Park's impressive start but with the team in shambles it's been tough to stay optimistic. Does anyone have any advice for this depressed Twins fan? Hopefully someone can provide some optimism here! Go Twins!
  3. Twins (8-18, 5th AL Central) vs Astros (8-18, 5th AL West) Line: HOU -143 O/U: 8.5 runs Meyer (0-0, 18.00 ERA) vs McHugh (2-3, 6.65 ERA) Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX Forcast: Overcast, 58F, 0% of Precip. TV: FS-N Radio: Go 96.3 Minnesota Twins Lineup: 1. CF Danny Santana ® 2. 2B Brian Dozier ® 3. 1B Joe Mauer (L) 4. RF Miguel Sano ® 5. 3B Trevor Plouffe ® 6. DH Byung-Ho Park ® 7. SS Eduardo Escobar (S) 8. C Kurt Suzuki ® 9. LF Eddie Rosario (L) Houston Astros Lineup: 1. 2B Jose Altuve ® 2. RF George Springer ® 3. SS Carlos Correa ® 4. LF Colby Rasmus (L) 5. 1B Tyler White ® 6. DH Preston Tucker (L) 7. CF Carlos Gomez ® 8. 3B Luis Valbuena (L) 9. C Jason Castro (L) Not only did the Twins snap a 4-game losing streak last night but Jose Berrios notched his first win while ending Dallas Keuchel's 17-game home winning streak with a 6-2 victory. The Twins now match the Astros 8-18 record heading into tonight's game against right hander Collin McHugh. Opposing him will be Alex Meyer in his first start of the year, hoping to follow Berrios' first win with one of his own. After Santana and Gibson's stint on the DL, Duffey and Berrios have been pitching well and it'd be great to see another young pitcher try to enhance his resume for the starting rotation. Although my non-standard game threads haven't brought much luck so far this season, back-to-back wins would be a great way to start this 6-game road trip! Fun Fact: My last thread consisted of Kepler's first start of the year. Tonight, Alex Meyer. Next time, any guesses? As always, go Twins!
  4. Twins (4-9, 5th AL Central) vs Brewers (5-8, 5th NL Central) Santana (0-1, 3.00 ERA) vs Peralta (0-3, 10.13 ERA) Target Field, Minneapolis, MN Forcast: Overcast, 50F, 50% of Precip. TV: FS-N+ Radio: Go 96.3 Minnesota Twins Lineup: 1. 3B Eduardo Nunez ® 2. 2B Brian Dozier ® 3. DH Joe Mauer (L) 4. RF Miguel Sano ® 5. LF Oswaldo Arcia (L) 6. 1B Byung-Ho Park ® 7. SS Eduardo Escobar (S) 8. C John Ryan Murphy ® 9. CF Byron Buxton ® Milwaukee Brewers Lineup: 1. 3B Colin Walsh (S) 2. 2B Scooter Gennett (L) 3. LF Ryan Braun ® 4. DH Jonathan Lucroy ® 5. 1B Chris Carter ® 6. CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis (L) 7. SS Jonathan Villar (S) 8. RF Ramon Flores (L) 9. C Martin Maldonado ® After a less-than-expected 0-9 start, the Twins look to follow that up today with a 5-game win streak against border-battle rival Milwaukee. It was nice to see us snag a 6-inning win due to a rain delay last night to save from the workload that's been put on the bullpen, especially for May and Jepsen. Although I won't be available due to 5 stitches over the weekend, we will get Abad back however, optioning Rogers back to Rochester. It may not be a beautiful day out here in the cities, but it'd sure be beautiful to get another win! Go Twins!
  5. Or would you rather have the red jersey's 90 more times?
  6. Twins (0-7, 5th AL Central) vs White Sox (5-2, T-1st Al Central) Hughes (0-1, 4.50 ERA) vs Rodon (0-1, 2.57 ERA) Target Field, Minneapolis, MN Forcast: Clear, 67F, 0% PoP TV: FS-N Radio: Go 96.3 Minnesota Twins Lineup: 1. 2B Brian Dozier ® 2. 1B Joe Mauer (L) 3. DH Miguel Sano ® 4. 3B Trevor Plouffe ® 5. LF Eddie Rosario (L) 6. SS Eduardo Escobar (S) 7. RF Max Kepler (L) 8. C Kurt Suzuki ® 9. CF Byron Buxton ® Chicago White Sox Lineup: 1. RF Adam Eaton (L) 2. SS Jimmy Rollins (S) 3. 1B Jose Abreu ® 4. 3B Todd Frazier ® 5. LF Melky Cabrera (S) 6. 2B Brett Lawrie ® 7. DH Jerry Sands ® 8. C Alex Avila (L) 9. CF Austin Jackson ® It's a beautiful day out in Minneapolis and an even better day to beat the White Sox! It's my first time starting a Twins Daily game thread so I'm hoping it leads to the first W of the year.. Go Twins!
  7. SANO! That athleticism out in RF!
  8. No hits for Sano on the year, but two walks so far today.
  9. Sano making it look easy out in RF!
  10. Maybe would've came close. Hit the top of the wall, think it would've been difficult for anyone. Think Sano played it just fine.
  11. Pressly warming up for the Twins. Tyler Wilson warming up for the Orioles.
  12. Right! Apparently Pressly is heading to the bullpen to warm up.
  13. Approx. restart time is 5:30 CT per Mike Berardino's Twitter account. Thinks both Santana and Tillman will be done for the day.
  14. I almost had to double check the date on the calendar.. Feels like a rain delay with no rain after the completion of the national anthem is just a cruel April Fool's day joke.
  15. It doesn't look like the rain will let up until 7 PM or so, surprised they waited until game time to announce the delay. Who knows when they'll get going.
  16. I was wondering which particular statistic(s) people are most interested in monitoring (other than Twins W/L) with Opening Day just about 24 hours away? For example, I'm curious to see if Rosario can improve his BB/K this year and what Park's K% is going to be. Just thought I'd see what everyone was thinking!
  17. The red jersey's aren't as bad as I originally thought and also that Arcia is now as fast as Buxton.
  18. There's a brief behind the plate view of it at the 0:30 mark, sort of difficult to see the pitch type though. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/166391166/byung-ho-park-delivers-grand-slam-in-twins-win
  19. Park with the Grand Slam! 4-0 in the top of the 1st!
  20. Thought I'd share this week's Sunday Notes from FanGraphs if anyone is interested. A few quick reads on Carew/Oliva, Duffey, Everday Eddie, and TR. Sunday Notes: Murton’s Return, Archer, Angels, Twins, more
