Aside from toppings (chili is best, duh), I want to set the records straight on two other dimensions of proper hotdogging.

1. Steamed (or boiled). Never grilled.

2. All beef. Nathans, preferably.

You've opened up a whole new can of worms there Dinger. We're going to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Grilled hot dogs is VASTLY superior to steamed (or boiled) hot dogs! You get that smokey flavor in every bite.

I agree with Pardon ... boiled >>> grilled. And I'll take pretty much anything on my dog as long as there is no ketchup in sight.

What's the benefit of boiled over grilled? How does the dog get crisp on the outside?

Why is Molitor managing a team that should be playing young players?

Thanks for the call, Mike. It's quite mind.boggling. to ALL of us right now. Is Molly looking at the standings upside down every morning? The intern dug deep, and found a source that knows the REAL reason why Alex Meyer was sent down...

After practice on Monday, Alex Meyer challenged Paul Molitor to a game of Horse on the basketball court. Meyer with the significant height advantage over Molitor, wasn't playing by the rules. He was dunking the basketball.... Throwing it off the wall and doing windmill dunks! It was incredible! Unfortunately it really embarrassed Molitor. Ever since that moment, there's been a lot of tension between them....

When is Meyer's next start?  I enjoy high scoring games.

Thank you for the call, Kwak. I wish I was a psychic so I could tell you exactly when Meyer's next start will be! It may be a long time before we see him again in the majors... When you show up your coach on a basketball court like Meyer did, it's going to take some time to heal those wounds...

That's a primary reason why boiled is better. I can do without scorched casing.

Hot dogs on a spit; seared over an open raging fire. Orc style; pretend they are defeated enemies.

That's what I'm talking about Craig! There's no better way to consume a hot dog than over an open raging fire!

All beef wiener (Winnipeg Old Country),  boiled and slightly fried to ensure some snap and a little grease.

Chili (not con carne)

Mustard

Onions (not fried)

Pickles

That is all.

If ever in Winnipeg, this is THE place to get a hot dog.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold the phone. Clarification needed: what is meant by 'not con carne?'

Sorry, but I am not a chili dog guy. Tell them that's wrong, Van Man.

I suppose you people also enjoy Reese's peanut butter cups?

Report.

That is an outrageous generalization.

No beans, peppers, you know, crap that just gets in the way and needlessly fills you up or spills on your shirt (if the mustard doesn't get you first of course).

Also, just on the dog, not one of those chili dogs doused in chili so you have to eat it with a fork and knife. Hot dogs are finger food.

Thank you for clarifying. This meets my utmost approval. Addendum: steam those buns, homie.

Back in my parts, son, we take our chili with beans, our dogs over a fire, and our peanut butter alone on a single crust of bread. Goes best in the morning with a strong cup o' coffee, before we head out.

I suggest you straighten yerself right quick.

I always knew there was a place for people like you.

My kind of dog. When you fry them all the way, you lose all that wonderful hotdog taste and get a burnt taste instead. Now I'm not saying burnt is bad ... it's okay as long as it's not mutilating a perfectly delicious dog. But if I eat a hotdog, I want to taste that hotdog.

And I'll reiterate: absolutely NO ketchup.
