Trump doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt at this point.

None whatsoever. If a guy routinely says outrageous and and dangerous things, he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt when he claims he meant something else.

Because if someone so regularly steps over the line with his/her comments, then it's that person's responsibility to monitor their speech. It's not our responsibility to parse what we think he thinks we think he means.

How is making a joke about that ok? Honestly, what the ****? What a disgusting human. Just when I think gee can't get any lower, there he goes.

Did this one get discussed yet?

Watch the entire two minutes, and enjoy the silence and the looks of genuine horror by the panel in the second minute. "Oh wow".

(Trump's staff says there is no truth to this story.)

Per the video, Trump's eagerness to use nuclear weapons did come from an undisclosed 2nd hand source.

Still, the fact that it is incredibly believable is frightening. If this is true, this needs to be a widespread talking point, this is more frightening than him implying his supporters could assassinate Clinton.

Yeah, check out the reaction (including the sidelong glance at somone off-camera) from the co-host, Mika Brzezinski, during Joe's lead-in to the assertion. I read it as he had discussed it with her, but she didn't think he was going to go ahead with it without further vetting. "Really? You're going with this? Buckle up and strap in...." :)

If that's the main source of your Trump anxiety, maybe this will help a little. If anything, Trump underperformed the polling when the primaries were still competitive.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/trump-supporters-probably-arent-lying-to-pollsters/&ved=0ahUKEwj5nbfcobLOAhUH_WMKHX1ZAK4QFggfMAE&usg=AFQjCNG98itnAWv1CA9M9fgoSjB2P6imfw

That was my impression as well. I know he had been ahead all the way in Iowa (was that a decade ago?) and held leads in other states and then didn't hold them. He always polled well in the jungle, when there were 5-10 candidates, but didn't really overperform vs. the polls that often.

Wisconsin polls are out and he is getting destroyed there. There is no run through odd states to counter Virginia and Colorado. He can win Ohio and Florida and it would still be a big win for Clinton. He won't win them, but it wouldn't matter if he did.

1 percent of black voters. Think about that.

I voted for McCain. He didn't have the charisma that Obama did. Felt almost like Nixon v Kennedy. He pulled that microphone away from that crazy ass as fast as he could.

Right.  You could see how disappointed he was, it wasn't just a political moment, it spoke to his character.   That's what made the tragedy of Palin all the more cutting.  Since then, McCain has never quite found his footing, political gamemanship has reeled him in.   Historically, it will be interesting to see what turned McCain from Maverick to establishment to tentative Trump support.  The old McCain would have come out against Trump full-barreled long ago.

McCain has come out hard against trump, however if he comes out and says he will vote for Hillary then it would probably cost him his sentate seat.

The senate needs guys like McCain, so I don't mind him doing the "political" thing in this case.

I had a great post toured out, and my ipad went stupid. Not a huge fan of this thing. I would run android based systems any day over ios.

Anyway, my point was that millennial voters are how Obama won each election. The gop thought they had it in the bag, as bush only lost the young person vote by 10 points. Obama won it by 24 in each election, and i don't expect the margin to be any closer this time. This is going to be a fun election to analyze. The shrinking rate of evangelicals and the rising rate of millennials in the electorate make this exciting to see how it plays out.

Yes, McCain made a statement rebuking Trump's comment about the Khan family; however my understanding is that he still 'supports' the nominee, though will not endorse him.  He can't have it both ways.  He's not at all doing what somewhat like Romney is doing, that he's running against a primary candidate or a competitive democrat is poor, sad excuse.

You might be fine having McCain in the Senate so long as he's representing another state; but he's representing my state now, and his supposed moderation is long in the past.  Screw McCain for trying to curry the crazy/Trump Arizona vote, of which their are many, such actions merely proliferate their number.

Just recently he nearly echoed Trump's statement that Obama is the founder of ISIS, in that Obama was directly responsible for the Orlando attack. McCain has jumped the shark, which is sad; because like you suggest he once represented a reasonable conservative voice whom could help balance those whom I ideologically support.

Uggh.  Aren't PC tablets cheap these days?  I still lose my posts in the browsers everyone once in a while by accidentally hitting the keystroke for back.  I see that autosave function in the corner telling me it's saved, but where it's saved and how to access it once its lost is a mystery to me.

I worked on Bob Dole's presidential campaign as a paid staffer....imagine how I feel, watching him endorse this clown? McCain and Dole forgot why they ran in the first place (as have, alas, many of my friends).

This is why term limits are a good thing in cases like this, not to change the subject. But I think McCain wants to keep his job more than remember why he ran in the first place.

Sorry to hear you're having issues but having used a wide variety of tablets, the iPad is the best of the bunch.

Android is a *great* phone OS but on tablets, it's pretty much crap. Google made a half-hearted attempt at tablets and improved marginally from 2011-2014 but once tablet sales plateaued (and later declined), both app devs and Google kinda gave up (though I've heard generally positive things about the Pixel C).

I have yet to use an Android tablet that compares to my (now gone) iPad 3, much less my iPad Air 2 or iPad Pro (yes, I own two iPads... Don't ask why but there's a reason for it).

Trump just called Obama the founder of ISIS over-and-over at a rally (of course Crooked-Hillary was the co-founder).  The man has no shame, and feeds off his personal experience of his own rallies.  Yipes

Can we all finally agree that Trump is never going to change his approach, which almost ensures a loss in November?

The man continues to double-down on outrageous statements as America begrudgingly moves toward Clinton.

The crazy he pulled in the primaries doesn't play in a general. He's wilting under the bright lights of a two-horse race, just as I suspected he might.

And we haven't even gotten to the debates yet.

I voted for McCain too. But it was in 2000, I wrote his name in. I was disgusted by Bush's push polling, soon to be disgusted by every thing else.

http://www.cracked.com/blog/trump-writes-some-his-own-tweets-and-we-know-which-ones/

Pretty funny stuff. There's a theory about Trump's tweets, basically he Tweets from his Android and they make up nearly 100% of his most bat**** crazy non-sense. These are usually followed by Tweets from an iphone that are less insane, more grammatically sound and 1000x less narcissistic.

So it's pretty clear which posts come from Trump and which come from his staffer(s).

I did the exact same thing.

Trump is certainly making it hard to imagine he finishes this race.  It's borderline sabotage.

I worry he's encouraging the "angry guy with lots of guns who takes over bird sanctuary" types.

I always got the feeling those guys don't need any encouragement, just a paper thin excuse to blow their top.

New NBC/WSJ polls show obliteration by Clinton.

These polls make me nervous, though ... liberal voters are the most complacent. Hearing these kinds of reports they will come to the conclusion their vote won't be necessary.

Posted

All of these polls are of "registered voters" - how many of these battleground states have same day registration?

Same-day registration is in 15 states plus DC. Those states are: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Wyoming

So really only one battle ground state.  That is good news for Hillary.
