The Pirates TV announcers just said that "legend" has it that the MLB logo was modeled after Harmon Killebrew. I'd never heard that. Anyone?

I'm also watching the Pirates' broadcast, and they've used the word "lucky" at least 15 times to describe the Twins tonight.

Yikes.  Confidence in ANYONE from our bullpen, outside of Perk-  0.  They always scare me, every one of 'em.

This team has performed pretty well so far, but the bullpen has to be fixed if that's to continue.

 

I'd start with Oliveros, and I'd move Meyer to the pen in Rochester and hope to catch lightning in a bottle.

 

I'd even look at the AA bullpen.

In a lot of ways, I'm glad there was no digital world back then.  My confirmation day maroon slacks and white shoes/belt combo would be there for all to see, instead of just seared into my memory like a red-hot branding iron with the bad-guy cattle-baron's logo on it.  And the shirt-  we won't talk about the shirt.

My confirmation day I wore a robe.

Yeah, Tonkin really worked for that.  Lucky or not, great effort and result.  He did a nice job of realizing he had about 4 minutes to make the throw, too, and didn't rush it.

 

Hang a star on that one!

Yeah, I think we've ridden that wave as far as we can. Time to find a new wave.
