sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I'm truly unclear about this contest. I just come here to talk about the baseball game. Psst. ChiTown. It's like Jeopardy, you have to word it in the form of a weird west coast hippy idea, whatever that may be. Like this: 'We don't like us no west coast hippies nor their weird ideas about "daylight savings time" and "Punch Line Contests"... We just wanna talk us some BaseBall!' Anyway, i'll try to talk baseball too... (Pause to gather thoughts...) ashbury, USAFChief and Riverbrian 3

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Well ... if it's to punchline Chief ... it has to be something like this: 'We don't like us no west coast hippies nor their weird ideas about "daylight savings time" and get off my lawn' Riverbrian, ashbury, glunn and 1 other 4

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 'We don't like us no west coast hippies nor their weird ideas about "daylight savings time" and new-fangled contraptions like fire' Okay, I'm done. I think that about covers Chief. glunn, Riverbrian and ashbury 3
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Looking over the lineup, am i right in saying this is pretty much the standard Twins starting lineup, now that Dozier and Hunter are settling into their new roles? No strange platooning/substitutions, we're running out our best in the abstract, and giving them a chance.
Platoon Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 If Brian falls asleep after all that coffee, and does not wake up, drooling will not be his only problem! glunn, Joe A. Preusser, Riverbrian and 4 others 7
Platoon Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I saw my first flock of wild turkeys in a pastoral setting last fall. We saw them all the time within the less populated areas of Sioux City but somehow they don't make a great impression when they are blocking the road. But last fall I saw a flock in the country amongst old trees in pastureland. What a gorgeous site. Not as majestic as Bald Eagles but still beautiful creatures. I'd love to see a fight so I could see those blue heads!! I did see some with tails fully spread.. While they don't make a great impression on the road they will in the grill of your vehicle! If you really want to see turkeys fight, couldn't you just go to a KC/Chicago game? Hell, you might even get a Hawk involved also! Riverbrian, glunn, JB_Iowa and 1 other 4
Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 '...and "_________"'? All right, sounds like a Punch Line Contest to me! As usual, the Winner* gets bragging rights until the next PLC. I'll go first, 'and "Education Beyond Third Grade"', but I'm sure someone will do better. * Determined by acclaim, or else arbitrarily by me in the coming 24 hours."Universal health care" ashbury, USAFChief and Riverbrian 3

Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Wild Turkey. When we came back from Nam in the Navy we stopped in Guam and could each bring back 5 fifths of hootch. One of my bottles was Wild Turkey, naturally. Having survived the long drive from Ft Myers to the north shore of Lake Superior, I probably won't make the end of this game, but ill stick around long enough for us to get a lead. Platoon Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 From what I understand, Brian's NW Mn turkey had gotten a nod from the chicken in the road ditch! So he decided to try and sneak across the road, because he figured Brian would not see him in time! Just as he got to the centerline, Brian looked up from his IPhone and sped up his 2003 Hyundai, and nailed the Turkey just before he reached the far shoulder. While the argument rages whether Brian should have sped up the Hyundai, the fact remains the Turkey should have been happy where he was! Riverbrian 1

ashbury Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 So that's the contest? Fill in the 'and' with Chiefian comment? Oh ... so many ways to go with that ... I left it open-ended enough to go many ways. Just as long as it's funny. Chief just wrote a post that seemed like it was missing the last few words. So here's our chance to help him out.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I left it open-ended enough to go many ways. So long as it's funny.Since it's a Chiefism, I think he should pick the winner. ashbury and Riverbrian 2

stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Here's my rather detailed prediction. Hughes and Felix are both effective, with each team only scoring a run in the first seven innings. Felix leaves and the Twins score big off the bullpen and win comfortably 9-2. Joe A. Preusser 1

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 If you think a 9:10pm start time is bad, I wonder what it would be like if you were living in the Eastern time zone ... just sayin' ... I don't know why the entire Eastern time population doesn't move to Kansas. They could at least watch Letterman or Kimmel at a decent hour. ashbury and glunn 2
