Mauer batted .486/.481/.714 last year opposite field.

 

Nothing wrong with being able to pull the ball but if all he does is go up there and try and pull the ball XBH is very likely to be very low because he's just trying to make sure he's getting a hit he's not driving the ball.

And .204/.204/.241 to RF.

 

Neither his "to RF" or "to LF" numbers mean much out of context though.  He hit .277/.367/.371 overall, which is what matters.  And why he needs to be able to pull the ball, just as much as dead pull hitters would benefit from learning to go the opposite way sometimes.

 

Maybe some are happy with an empty OBP from a three hitter, I'm not.

If a batter is pitched inside he should be able to pull for sure if they pitch him outside he should not be trying to pull.  Trying to force the issue the pull ball issue is a bad idea.

Can someone explain the methodology?  It's not making sense to me.

 

Looking at career numbers for Mauer, for example, I see ..437, .339, and .376 as batting averages when hitting to left, center, and right, respectively.

 

But that can't be correct, because Mauer's career batting average is .318.

 

So I'm not sure what the "hit location" is measuring, but it's not his overall numbers when going to a specific field.  It can't be.

For one, strikeouts wouldn't be included in any of those numbers.

No, I'm pretty sure they've been called the "Wild" since the franchise was awarded.

And i have been betrayed by ambiguous pronouns once again.

 

I had meant that scoring in baseball, also known as the "runs", what chief said when referring to the Twins' game, is called something different in the sport of hockey, which is what i was referring to in my comment pertaining to the "Wild". Namely the "goals".

 

(Have kept ambiguity at arms length this time?)

 

But woe is me. The Twins' game is over.

. This one was much better, the other day he missed the infield entirely! Apparently he was distracted while mentoring a young fan on how to properly hold unto a Polish sausage!
