Have a beer, your usual sardonic wit is giving way to a jaded bitterness today. Pav needs to have a better year, sucks might be a bit strong but I get the sentiment. Bottom 3? No chance, much better team than that, although likely not playoffs yet. Doesn't help they play in arguably the toughest division in the league and in the Western conference.

Where I live the sound from the stadium enters a resonating cavity, aka the 35W trench. Then it carries over this way and about a block away I can hear the PA system, and the crowd. The way the Gophers are going there ought to be quite a bit.

Dad remembers every card that is played so I gotta try and match that or lose badly.

He rolls his eyes when I discard an 8 after he picked up an 8 around 10 cards ago.

Gin? I find vodka far more enjoyable! This is not to say that I have not partook of the devil Gin, but the experience was painful!

I am also watching the Astros -- if they can win then the Twins get the third draft pick -- unfortunately the Astros are now behind to the Mets, so it looks like the Twins will pick at #4.

Did anyone really think at the beginning of the year that what we would be playing for was a higher draft pick??

So we draft 6th.Tie with Astros goes to them and they get the extra pick (2) for screwing up this years draft.

 

My guess is there will be 5 blue chip guys.

I had a golf outing and missed the entire Game Thread. Finished reading it just now. While it is sad the season is over, the Game Threads have kept me interested and entertained. Much thanks to Brian and ChiTown and all the contributors.

 

Since I am what I am, I will start some post-mortem threads and hope many of you contribute.

 

Spring Training can't come soon enough for me.

I feel like a Oscar winner, late in the program. All the best jokes have been used, all the people have been thanked, all the platitudes delivered. So instead of thanking my mom and dad, and my agent, and producer, and my 3rd grade English teacher, I will simply say that I enjoyed the time, the witty repartee, the sarcasm.

 

It takes a certain kind of individual to watch the Twins the last 4 years, listen to Dick and Bert sell optimism (and tickets) and retain your sense of humor. Luckily most of those have landed on game thread. Even more fortuitous is that I discovered it!

 

So, until next year, I bid a fond au deu!
