----------------------------------------

ONE:  This is the ONE, the last ONE of the season, the ONE that everyone will remember until next year.  Leave us with a good ONE, Brian!   :)

----------------------------------------

The Last One!!! Wow... It's gonna be weird to not have to do this tomorrow and the tomorrow after tomorrow. In North Dakota... There is nothing to do but wait for the snow. I think that must be why I like baseball. When it starts the snow stops and when it ends... the snow begins.

Things to Think About:

1. Game 162 Cards/Pirates -- It's just impossible to shake off drama in this game. A week ago... It was looking like it was going to be the most drama free Game 162 in quite some time. However... We have so many teams backing into the playoffs that drama has appeared. In the National League... The Cards failed to clinch last night and this means that they have to win today or risk losing the title to the Pirates. The Cards are forced to go with Ace Wainwright against the D-Backs. The Pirates are forced to pitch Gerrit Cole against the Reds.

I'm sure they both would rather save these pitchers for the playoffs but they can't save them. If the Pirates win and the Cards lose... That will force a game 163 in St. Louis and the burning of another quality pitcher in the playoffs for both teams. Talk about killing yourself trying to get in.

2. Game 162 A's/Mariners -- The Mariners are still alive... The Collapse of the A's is bordering on historic and therefore the Mariners are still alive. The A's acquired some very impressive pitching to add to what was pretty impressive pitching already... just to get ready to have that staff that can win you games in the playoffs. All it did was cause the once dominant A's to fall of a cliff... Baseball is funny game and Billy Beane is probably ready to kick puppies in frustration. It wasn't that the Pitching failed... The Offense fell apart. Did the loss of Cespedes cause that much damage? I doubt it but it sure looks like it. The Mariners will throw King Felix against the Angels today... If King Felix is King Felix... That puts everything on the shoulders of Sonny Gray who pitches for the A's against a Rangers team that has found a way to win in September. If a game 163 is needed... It will be held in Seattle. Sonny Gray... Sonny Gray... You hold more than the ball in your hands today.

3. Game 162 Tigers/Royals -- Both teams are in... But neither team wants to play in a one game wild card sudden death match up. The Tigers just had to beat the Twins to clinch it and they couldn't do it. The Tigers will have to burn David Price today against us while the Royals throw Ventura. If the Tigers win today... The Royals will look at yesterday as a real bad day for them. They could be tied right now but they are not. If game 163 is necessary... It will be held in Detroit and both teams will have to burn another starter and compromise themselves for the playoffs further.

4. Relegation -- Many of you may have missed this news story from a couple of weeks ago... But Major League Baseball has adopted a new rule of relegation. Just like they do it in English Football (Soccer). The Bottom 3 teams in the Majors will be sent down to AAA and the top 3 teams in AAA will be moved up to the Majors. This is good news for the Twins since they have escaped relegation.  Say Goodbye to the D-Backs... Rockies and Rangers. I wonder how Prince Fielder is going to do in the PCL?

Omaha... Pawtucket and Syracuse are the new MLB clubs in 2015. I'm already looking forward to the road trip to Omaha to watch our Twins.

5. Game Threads -- It has been stated by quite a few that the game threads have served as comfort during another 90 loss season. I couldn't agree more. The Game Threads have been fun day in and day out. For the most part... it has been a complaint free zone when there was so much to complain about. The participants in the game thread just plain get it. It isn't about solving the worlds problems... it's about laughing at them. I won't pretend to know the secret to life but I have a sneaking suspicion that whatever the secret of life is... Laughter has something to do with it. If you don't know the secret to life... if you can laugh about it... Who cares. Each and every game threader can laugh at others and they can laugh at themselves and because of that... you all mean more to me... then I could possibly express. After maybe 158 game thread set ups (I missed a few)... I'm a little dry of ideas I admit and ready for a break... but... I know when December is here... It's the game threads that I will be missing the most. Here's to a better 2015 on the field for the Twins... Here's to a September 2015 of meaningful games. It's the Twins that have to improve... The Game Threads do not have to. Thanks ChiTown for being my partner... Setting up the Set Ups... but Mostly... Thanks to ALL!!!

Time to thank Brian for his thoughts and making the last few years a lot less worse than they really where.

Brian you have been lipstick on the pig!

Thanks to you too ChiTown!

It's possible RB has just acquired anew nickname.

I'm leaving right now to hang out and watch Vikings with my Dad. It's about an hour drive. I'm hoping to game thread a little while there but Dad will probably want to play cards.

If I don't get to do much game threading today... It's been a pleasure.

Um, game 163? I didn't that would be necessary. If the Tigers and Royals end up tied, Detroit is the division winner, no?

We all know about Good Gibson and Bad Gibson.  After a one-two-three bottom of the first, dare we hope it's the Good Gibson in game 162?

/ edit: unfortunately, it looks like it could be Good Price as well.  I'm not sure a Bad Price has actually been identified.

Otter: Germans?

Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.

Carnac: "Nice Game Threads"

Ed: Nice game threads.  I'm not the Chief, but I must concur.

Carnac: You may be making a premature assumption, but I'll go ahead and concur with your concurrence.

Ed: No curse, then?  No thousand fleas, no deranged camels, no diseased harem girls?  I am relieved.

Carnac: I'm feeling sentimental today.

Ed: ...no conflict, no teevee ratings.

Carnac: All right then.  May a hundred forty days until pitchers and catchers report pass slowly for you.  Dire enough?
Ed: Hey-yo!  More than enough punishment.

Carnac: Then perhaps I should open the envelope and reveal the question.

Ed: I would be pleased if you do, oh Magnificent One.

Carnac: "What was the first thing Bambi bought when he moved to the big city?"

Uh, the snow thing happened in both Dakotas already three weeks ago. And everybody on this site knows the secret to life is, Don't start a land war in Asia. And don't bet a Sicilian when death is on the line.

That is all.

The pig does kind of reflect Brian's sophistication, but probably does not reflect his soul as much Alfred.

I am also about to go watch the Vikings with a parent (I also have to bring my Mom to a fabric store before the game -- which will open up many painful childhood memories.)

I look forward to see RBs and ChiTown's medals as overpriced memorabilia in the Target Field stores next year.  I also could see them being given out before one of the games to the first 10,000 fans through the gate (perhaps when we are in the ALDS next year).  Have a good off-season.  Thanks for the strangely informative and occasionally disturbing game threads.

Good Kinzler trumps Good Gibson in the bottom of the third.

Alright... Safe and Sound... Heard Kinsler hit the ball out on the radio. If Gibson can prevent more damage. We can still give KC a shot.

Cmon, Esco!

Price is one of the luckiest pitchers in the league.  He so often seems to pitch when the other team doesn't score many runs.

Dad... Is setting up the card table... That didn't take long... I walk in the door... Give him a hug and he turns around and gets the card table...

Looks like I'm gonna have to concentrate on Gin.

Dad remembers every card that is played so I gotta try and match that or lose badly.

He rolls his eyes when I discard an 8 after he picked up an 8 around 10 cards ago.

Next ModCon I'll arrange a gin tourney.

Unforced mistakes will get ya every time. But, enough about J.D. Martinez and his baserunning.
