----------------------------

Thought time.  Hopefully it won't be too painful.

-----------------------------

Thanks for hoping for my painlessness... Or were you referring to those who read this and hoping that they don't feel any pain? Let's see what happens.

Things to Think About:

1. The Tigers -- They appear to be playoff bound... Hopefully I just jinxed them by saying that. They hit a couple of come from behind dingers against the Indians this weekend and this kinda gives you that impression. Coming up big... late in games in late September is what playoff ready teams do. The Tigers have won 6 out of the last 7. They have 13 games left... 7 of which are against the Twins. They hold a 1.5 lead over the Royals for the central crown and a 2.5 game lead over the Mariners for the last wild card spot.

2. Playing the Spoiler -- Ron Gardenhire made a statement before the Chicago series. Paraphrasing... He stated that he would be auditioning some players because neither the Twins or the White Sox are going to be making the playoffs. In other words... the games really don't matter to either squad so I'll play whoever. Reading between the lines... In games that matter... Like this one does for the Tigers... Gardy will play his top lineup and try to beat the Tigers. I'm reading that right I assume... So... First Off... I respect the integrity of this approach... I like thinking that my club is professional... But 2nd off... We need a few more games in September against teams that are out of it so we can play audition and do what is best for us. Thank Goodness we have 3 games against a non contender when we host the D-Backs. That's all we got left tho'.

3. Anthony Swarzak -- Anthony takes the mound for the Twins tonight. He has thrown 73 innings for us in 2014. Striking out 42 batters and producing a 3.95 ERA. There was press discussion of the possibility of Swarzak serving as a starter and it was decided that he was better out of the pen. Regardless of where he belongs... He's gotta man up and face the Tigers tonight and he hasn't thrown more then 3 innings since Hoover was President. I think the bullpen will be busy tonight.

4. Max Scherzer -- So how much do you have to pay this guy? 37 Wins in the past two years... Over 200 IP in each of the past two years... Boras as an Agent. This guy will get a large large deal. Let's hope it's in the NL somewhere. Unless it's the Twins who sign him... Ha Ha... I Crack myself up with comments like that.

5. The Bank Teller -- A single guy from work went to the bank today and thought the bank teller was kinda cute so he asked her out. He came away disappointed because she declined. I told him that he didn't think it through all the way. She has access to his bank account right in front of her!!! She probably said no while laughing.

The four games at Detroit might be meaningless--assume Detroit has already clinched the division.

On the humorous side, Swarzak is like the tethered goat at a picnic that the Twins invited the Tigers.

Looking at the standings, and seeing other teams on winning streaks, it made me wonder: Why can't the Twins go on a two- or three-week tears? Other teams do it all the time. Heck, even Houston and San Diego are playing well. Failing that, I really thought we wouldn't fade like the last three years. And then we did.

But for reasons I can't put my finger on, I'm really optimistic. And it would be a blast to give the Tigers a good series. They'll be tight. We shouldn't be.

That is all.

I don't know RB - you might be selling the Twins short on this one. I took a glimpse into the future, and this is what I witnessed:

Swarzack, ick! Jim Crickett wrote that the coaching staff needs to change or the Twins are dead, they need to improve the rotation and fielding or they're dead too.

Good to see Santana starting at SS though

They may not hit the ball on the ground!!!

I think he is happy because he just got to spend 275M of The Pohlad Family's fortune. As we know Terry is a fan of spending an exorbitant amount of moola.

Pinto ever going to play again? And people wonder why some of us want Gardy gone. They need to play Pinto. So. Frustrating. And with all the AAA pitchers, no one deserves a shot more than Swarzak?

Number of hits Swarzak is allowing per inning seems to be decreasing.  I particularly liked the double play to end the second.

Obvious question is can we touch Scherzer to get back in the game?

To me the big question is this:

At the Movie Theater... Which arm rest is yours?

These hits are obviously negative hits.  If only the runs were too...  I obviously jinxed someone.  Sorry.
