James Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Rumor has it that it is a Detroit, TB and Minnesota Ménage a trade. Duensing is the center piece.Makes sense. Tampa doesn't have enough prospects to land Duensing by themselves.
nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Makes sense. Tampa doesn't have enough prospects to land Duensing by themselves. Yep, Duensing to Rays for Price. Correia and Willingham to Phillies for Hamels. Then we're all set!
nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Tigers get Price! Just came in via Rosenthal. Don't know particulars yet.

James Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Tigers get Price! Just came in via Rosenthal. Don't know particulars yet.Super Crazy day.
Dman Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 How do the Tigers do it? Every time they need an arm they get one. Well this should make Billy boy cry.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Tigers get Price! Just came in via Rosenthal. Don't know particulars yet. This should be interesting..... They didn't have much minor league talent to begin with. Now they've gutted whatever they had it seems.
Boom Boom Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Dang, if Mike Ilitch put this much effort into Little Caesar's they might make an edible pizza. James and Mike Sixel 2
Whammy Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Tigers get Price! Just came in via Rosenthal. Don't know particulars yet. Gotta be like Scherzer to Seattle in a 3-team or something like that. Detroit doesn't have the minor league bullets to get Price by themselves
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Let the Tigers have Price, he's a free agent after 2015 and Scherzer's a free agent next year. The Twins won't be competitve during that time, meanwhile the Tigers will have to decide which pitcher they want to give another albatros contract to for their decline years. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll give them both 7 year $200 million contracts. Edited July 31, 2014 by nicksaviking Danchat 1

tobi0040 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I just don't see it. Their system had Castellanos and Ray in the top 100 last year. Neither is exactly on par with the Wil Myers/Odorizzi package. Castellanos, Smyly, and something? I think the Rays do better in the offseason Dear IT team, Looks like I was dead wrong here, DELETE DELETE DELETE

It'll be interesting to see if he's involved.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Stephen Drew to the Yankees too, for Kelly Johnson.

James Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Sounds like Austin Jackson to Seattle and Smyly somewhere. Tampa gets Nick Franklin.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Austin Jackson and Smyly to Mariners with Franklin going to Rays as pieces of the puzzle.
James Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Kevin Kaduk: Wow, this is crazy. Austin Jackson getting pulled with a 2-2 count with one out in the seventh. That is weird.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Has to be more to this trade though....Franklin isn't enough by himself. Even if Smyly goes to Tampa that probably isn't enough.
cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 This is going to be a crazy trade.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) How is Zobrist not a part of the deal if Austin Jackson is going to the Mariners? Guess offense doesn't matter if Verlander is your fifth starter. Edited July 31, 2014 by LaBombo

nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Austin Jackson, Smyly and Franklin involved. Mariners third team.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Just saw a good tweet: Smyly and Franklin to Tampa hardly means the Rays are giving up on their 2014 comeback bid either.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Ha, MLBTR keeps crashing. Can't wait to see what's going on here. No way is Smyly and Franklin the best Tampa could do.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I thought Seattle was getting Smyly? Pretty disappointing if the only trade the Twins make is Fuld.
