  1. As posted by water face apparently Maeda has opted for elbow surgery, it is yet to be determined what variety of repair will be necessary. MLB trade rumors had the scoop.
  2. Kirk Cousins with some pretty sweet 3 yard check downs on 3rd and long.
  3. Well there you go time to start developing the youngsters for 2022. Gibaultaboutit! There is no way they build a rotation with Ober alone. Not going to happen. Even Maeda will be pretty old by '22 so with Berrios gone Falvey and Levine are completely starting over. This will be their team and their opportunity to sink or swim.
  4. Check this article out. https://twinsdaily.com/index.html/minnesota-twins-news-rumors/kenta-maeda-elbow-second-opinion/
  5. Gibault and Albers are 2 names I was hoping to see on a different list. Normally not a reactive fan but our pitching is wearing on me. So now the only time I will pay attention is when Ober is pitching. Maybe I'll watch to see if Jax can bounce back from that beating. Maybe September will bring some good news......
  6. Bummer, for a sec there i thought it might be true.
  7. I asked this exact question in the other Maeda elbow thread about why there is uncertainty with elbows but not ACL's. You have completely cleared this for me, thanks. So now when people complain that a team didn't have a player have surgery right away wasting time we know that it was a prudent course of action.
  8. Ah geez I'm on a little DVR delay so it wasn't a jinx. Let's see how Jax navigates this.
  9. I like watching Jax way more than I thought I would after his first couple of outings. He seems to have a real competitive steak in him.
  10. And here is that link. You can click a stat and it will show the rankings for that stat. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/minor-league?pos=all&lg=2,4,5,6,7&stats=bat&qual=y&type=0&team=&season=2021&seasonEnd=2021&org=&ind=0&splitTeam=false&players=&sort=23,1
  11. I agree with Roger on Cavaco. He was drafted very young and raw. Last week someone posted on TD exactly what Roger was asking for. I think it was on Fangraphs. AA & AAA leaders.
  12. I do not protect Garlic, Stashak or Smeltzer. Colina is shorter but a bull. He has upside. The other one I'm on the fence with is Dobber. Skeptically that he hasn't turned into a pumpkin. He didn't finish that great last year and more of the same this year. He was jacked around a little. Low ceiling guys, Smeltzer, Stashak and ALBERS have no place on the 40 man.
  13. Not sure having TJ surgery makes Canterino a bust. What is weird to me is that when, say, an ACL needs surgery it always seems pretty obvious that's the way to go, but with an elbow there seems more uncertainty. The result of that can be delaying the inevitable surgery which of course wastes time. Anyone now what this uncertainty is about?
  14. I think Ryan is ready now. When thinking about the rookies Ober, Jax and Ryan let's remember Berrios' first year. It was terrible. I see all three of these guys out performing Berrios' rookie year. This might speak to better pitching development with this FO. Cleveland's guys seem to come up well prepared. It would be sweet if we started seeing the same.
  15. I'm an a big fan of Jorge. He is making quite the effort to learn English. He is a ballplayer, period. A healthy Polanco is someone you can build around. Tough as they come, speaks softly carries a big stick. Ode To Jorge
  16. That looks very tasty, can't get that up in Duluth
  17. I was thinking signing Pineda as a reasonably priced quality starter was gonna be a thing, but now I am wondering if he is going to be able to be available enough in the future.
  18. Is Big Mike's repaired elbow barking again?
  19. This is a very good point about Latin players vs US born players. Larnach played 4 years in college so he didn't get pero coaching until what 21? I think it was Jeffers who said his college team didn't even have a catching coach and he was on his own. The Latin players might have more limited economic opportunities and baseball is the only ticket for some. These different situations might produce different results, but of course I'm only speculating.
  20. Yep this has been discussed recently. My vote is for an 18 second pitch clock. Pitchers won't be able to max out every pitch and I venture they may be able to go longer AND have less injuries. More balls in play as well. Win, win, win.
  21. Usually TD reveals where on the positive/negative spectrum posters fall. An article like this can give an entirely different window into who we are sharing this space with. ?
