  1. Mr Flintstone is not happy right now. Edit: Gaa! Ninja'd by PDX
  2. "When/if that happens, time to consider trading Polanco" I see Polanco bouncing back from last year, but even if he never matches his best stretches, this team needs depth. I would not trade Polanco at this point especially considering his contact. Now if Lewis and another infielder emerge, then trade Polanco and his contact would be an asset in that situation.
  3. Maybe it depends on the development of Celestino and Sabato. If Celestino becomes almost the defender and a more contact oriented bat while Sabato becomes a better, more reliable, well rounded bat at first than Sano, well you've effectively replaced Buxton (unless, of course, Buxton keeps inching towards Trout like performance). Pitchers on the other hand, you need five of those every year just to get started. Meanwhile Berrios has uncommon drive, work ethic and durability. The only worries with him are inconsistency and a smaller frame which may or may not hold up. Baldelli's handling of the staff lessens that worry. I would make it a priority to sign them both, but make sure I get one no matter the cost, then I would trade the other if I couldn't get both.
  4. I did get a kick out of Jim Price and the Tiger's radio broadcast yesterday.
  5. That was a fun game to watch last night. Bit the bullet last night on AT&T TV and got the garage tv going. Nice spring night, couple of beers, great baseball and a clean garage! I would take this kind of game anytime. Still even at just 2-0 it was 2:46. Must have been all the pitching changes. More of this please.
  6. This thread reminds me of my buddy's old Pontiac GTO. At startup, it would belch a little blue smoke and idle rough, but once you got it warmed up it would purr like a kitten and man that kitty had some bite!
  7. You state "The A.P. has been as far left on the spectrum as you can get for over 50 years.Get Real !!". Ok this is true then? I've poked around quite a bit at attempts to classify news reporting and wire services like the AP, Reuters and Bloomberg are routinely rated as unbiased and with solid journalistic ethics. Along with NPR, the PBC,CBS News, ABC News and BBC showing up as in the middle. Here is a good attempt at rankings from another highly rated publication, Forbes. https://www.forbes.com/sites/berlinschoolofcreativeleadership/2017/02/01/10-journalism-brands-where-you-will-find-real-facts-rather-than-alternative-facts/amp/ I think a good strategy would be to read the NYT (or WAPO) and the WSJ. That way you would be reading some of the US' premier news sources which also happen to closely straddle the center from opposite sides. Where do you get your news and information? Edit: P.S. I just have to plug the long form journalism of The Atlantic (my favorite) and the venerable New Yorker. Also Outside magazine still has a few long form offerings. This gives me hope that not all info in the future will be of the sound bite variety. I'm open to suggestions for long form journalism from the other side of the spectrum.
  8. Google the Media Bias Chart. The AP is at the top in the middle. Therefore you might find unbiased coverage. For example, I like the New Yorker and the NYT but I realize they do lean left, especially the New Yorker so I keep that in mind. Then I check things out on the AP and find solid journalism there. At times I check in on Fox News and the WSJ. We are bombarded from every direction with information these days and it can get overwhelming. Because there is so much questionable info out there I find it important to put in a little effort to try to understand crucial events.
  9. This is great, thanks spycake!!
  10. Contract gaffe? Everybody wants them to sign the big free agent, I mean everybody. It is a risk and JD wasn't going to sign for less than 4 years. Even if he doesn't play 100 games as a Twin I don't think you can both want them to sign big time free agents and call this signing a gaffe. The front office just can't win I guess.
  11. Up here in Duluth we only have AM radio. The thing I can't wrap my head around is why are the radio streams blacked out? Would be so nice to just listen on my phone with high quality. You would think they want people to consume their product.
  12. Buzz kill for sure, but "it's gonna be a long year"? Give me a break.
  13. Happy opening day!! Am i right that with no radio where i am i won't be allowed to stream the radio broadcast here in Duluth?
  14. Ok I'll go with that. When I saw your post I expected the opposite because I also think many are overrating the Sox. When you hear in sports that this team is playing well or this team isn't look at the schedule. Usually it has to do with the level of competition. The Dirty Sox absolutely feasted on the dregs on the central divisions. Did they choke at the end or was it the schedule?
  15. Obviously the Twins and Sox are close so if you are a Twins fan why wouldn't you pick them?
  16. I don't want to see Arraez in LF at all. He is not good out there. If his knees are a problem then I surely don't want him running around in the outfield. He is infield depth for me really only playing second and third with Polanco covering short. Maybe first and DH once and a while as it stands now but if Rooker and or Kirlloff were up and performing they could cover those positions. DH ok, but Luis is too short for first.
  17. I, too, wanted to see what Rooker could do and I'm pretty surprised. He is on the taxi squad, so most likely I won't have to wait long. Either way it's nice to have a righty in this spot. The Twins have the depth for the marathon and are my clear division favorites! Very excited, let's go!
  18. "It was third to blame for last year’s postseason train wreck (behind of course: 1. The Offense and 2. Defense)." FTFY
  19. When Gibby got Nibbly it did not elevate the team, but it did elevate my blood pressure. There I FTFY!
  20. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2020/12/fox-sports-ohio-sportstime-ohio-will-be-available-as-standalone-streaming-services-in-2021-following-ballys-rebrand.html Could it be, could it be? Stand alone streaming for the Twins? I would be very happy
  21. I agree with all this, but i do see a young high upside starter or 2 getting some work as the season progresses. Duffey had that run and so did Romero, there is enough talent that one of these guys, Caterino etc, get a chance and gets hot.
