  1. With 30 teams top 30 equals #1 starter. There are only a half dozen Aces® at any time. Twins fans get caught up in the fact the Berrios hasn't made the leap to ace, which I think clouds their ability to see that he already is elite. Maeda, Berrios? You could argue that we already have 2 #1's. Add in Pineda and (I hope) Odo? Nothing to see here time to worry about the lineup.
  2. I think we need to pump the brakes on Kirilloff's and Larnach's perceived lack of defensive ability. Maybe we should watch them play a little. Kirlloff seems as cool as a cucumber and looked great sliding for the catch in a playoff elimination call-up. Larnach is 6'5" with a slightly thicker build than Kepler. He might surprise with his athleticism. I'm excited to watch.
  3. Chinese food is pretty good but maybe not in my top five. I like to listen to Aaron talk but I don't want to be him. Young and upwardly mobile? Phew! I guess he's not talking about me!
  4. I'm going with a like for the Wes Johnson comment but I like this move. We need some of this type of moves and it makes sense that this type happens earlier but yes I'm waiting for the bigger BP piece.
  5. Not sure I see how a guy with problem ankles is going to heal them by playing 2nd instead of SS. The point guard has problem ankles we are going to have to move him to wing! Huh?
  6. I'm thinking Celestino could outplay Cave and Wade this year when considering defensive value, plus he's a righty bat. I wouldn't be surprised if 2 years from now Buxton walks and Gilberto is roaming center. This guy has a real chance to be a player, but even in this scenario as DG said we still need to augment the position. Maciel could be a fourth in the future.
  7. Sign Mr Hand for up to 2 years, yes. Hell I'd even order him a pizza. The closer part though, c'mon now I thought Baldelli got that closer glitch out of his system last year and we were going with matchups.
  8. Whoa big fella! I thought this was a serious discussion.
  9. Yep and if Garver bounces back then you can trade him for more value than now I would think.
  10. I could see Lewis at third if ss doesn't work out and Celestino in cf. Sign a ss this year and Polanco can be the infield utility guy. If Donaldson goes down for a long period of time take Lewis' defense at third and let the bat develope. When Buxton won't sign an extension you've got Celestino roaming in center, this is a guy that's got a chance.
  11. Sorry but that's a stretch. It is a good point and resonates with me on a dispassionate level. The NBA is irritating on many levels, maybe the antithesis of MLB. Edit: Upon further reflection I still stand by my reaction to the dog whistle comment as it is perfectly reasonable to be irritated that a man can wave an assault rifle at an innocent family for being on his property when in fact they were on public property while negotiating a contact for a high level, very public position with a large corporation and not have his behavior affect said negotiations. That said it is true that it is apples to oranges. On the one hand you have a first round pick and on the other a fringe player.
  12. You gotta keep either Rosario or Cruz. If not then you must sign someone like Brantley. Yes the youngsters need their chance but we need depth. Non tendering Rosie on a personal level would be tough and I wonder how that plays in the clubhouse. Signing and trading Rosie at some point would be great but I don't know how your going to keep him and Cruz because we are short a starter.
  13. If you consider these 3 PROSPECT bats as ready (including Rooker),I still think you have to keep one of Rosario or Cruz. 1 or more of the prospects may struggle and we need the depth. I would prefer Cruz with the superior, RIGHTY bat. Cruz also gets the nod on mature leadership.
  14. I would sign Odo. I like his mettle, he is a guy that will show up. You could tell getting the game 3 start rankled him and his determination showed. That makes him a playoff caliber pitcher in some role anyway. I also see a good chance for durability with him and his smooth delivery. 3-36 max?
  15. Seriously does anybody think Cleveland would trade Lindor to us? In addition why would a self respecting Twins fan want that guy anyway? He is the enemy and with that crap eating grin he bugs the crap out of me. No thanks. They will not be signing another big ticket FA after signing Donaldson. In a normal year that would be true and this year even more so. After reading Doc's post I would say holding steady on payroll is our best case. The Spanish flu raged from February 1918 till March of 1920. 27 months. Things may be better this summer but not back to the way it was. Fans at 50% capacity might be the best case. I do get the feeling that the Pohlads will continue their stellar response and keep payroll close to the current level. If so let's please put the Pohlads are cheap rant to bed.
  16. Isn't this the last year of arb for Eddie? If so I'm not sure signing him for 2 years is a good idea unless it's super team friendly. I do see the argument for keeping him and let Kirloff rotate as the 4th instead of Cave. Last year should prove the importance of depth so until enough youngsters prove it...
  17. This seems to me that it is a personal issue similar to what happened with Thorpe last year. (Pure speculation). Unlike Thorpe this guy can flat out sling it. Those few starts where he blew everybody away still happened. Then he went in a complete funk. Total wildcard but intriguing.
  18. I agree, they should be in the mix but we need backup plans.
  19. I'm on board with everything you said except how did we "fumble" a deal with Wheeler?
  20. The Donaldson contact's species has yet to be determined. Albatross? We'll see. The thing to me is you can't have it both ways. Clamor for the big signing and complain about the attendant contract. You have to pick one.
  21. "I don’t think this conversation really means a whole lot at this point. It’s clear this team doesn’t have the horses for a playoff run. Not even close, despite the BS Baldelli is trying to inject. Nobody can stay healthy. Nobody has the fortitude to collect a clutch hit in a big game." "We basically just offered two years of on the job training to Baldelli while we burned an elite roster." Sorry Darius but which is it? We don't have the horses or we have/had an elite roster? If you ask me it's somewhere in the middle. On the elite side of middle. I say reload. I know one thing for sure I don't want 5 out of 6 years of 100 loses. That sucked hard. The last 2 years had 162/60 games of fun fandom and 3/2 games of dejection. I will take that over 100 L's every time. With a couple of moves, fewer than last year, they can be right back in it. Sprinkle in some young guys and who knows that spark might just appear like we have seen before. I'm interested in watching that movie.
  22. Oh yeah and I want to see him get at bats, but they still need a backup that is both right handed and capable of handling center.
  23. I agree with this but we need a right handed backup. Cave's ok but with Kirloff replacing Rosie and lefties Rooker and Larnach coming this is over due. Buxton and Donaldson just might go down again, ya think?
