    I thought Presley had talent but if we were ever in a playoff series and he came in to put out a fire i would've been very worried. Looks like selling high to me. I'm not sure this says anything about next year they took the time to evaluate him and here you are. That extra year just means more return.

    The reference to gutting the team would be because those that suggest trading Gibby tend to want to move Dozier, Santana, Escobar, Lynn, Odorizzi, Duke, Rodney, Reed,Kepler etc. Even hear Rosie mentioned. A long list. I'm not against moving many of the minor bits but I don't let go of Gibson unless the return is a fleecing of a desperate contender reminding me of the Pierzinski deal. One thing that would be different is then the twins were trading from a position of strength having mauer behind Pierzinski. I would hang on too Kepler, Escobar and Rosie unless similarly impressed.

    I think reason the extension to Hughes is considered rushed is the team still had what two more years of control on a super team friendly deal. I'm not sure I would extend Gibby this year I would wait to see him continue this next year but then aggressively extend him by a year from now. I definitely don't trade him.

    I would bet Gibby is a late bloomer and has at least a few years of prime ball ahead unless of course Molly grinds him down. We need five starters to fill a team but at least seven to get through the year. If we keep Gibby were have 2.5 you can count on for next year. Romero is my half. With how much this team has struggled too fill out a rotation and all the retreads we have had the pleasure of watching i don't understand a twins fan suggesting we get rid of a talented homegrown guy like Gibby. Plus rite now the guy is fun to watch. Lance Lynn, Ricky Nolasco, Hector Santiago, Sam Deduno, Scott diamond... dude I have a bad memory but I could keep going on and on.

    If you gut your team every year you think your not a contender aren't you just starting over all the time? You've got to build with something and in bball there is no better building block than an established starter.

    Wouldn't another factor be where on the bases the runners are and how many outs? Runner on first two outs vs runners on second and third no outs for example.

    The irrational purveyor of fairy dust actually likes Dozier and has rooted for the guy. All you say, the surprising rise to a top MLB player, is true and commendable. When he came out of the gate playing well this year I thought now we might have something. A Dozier who plays well all year but then we were disappointed again. If you weren't disappointed by his first half performance you are delusional. As the events of the last couple days show he may lead us to postseason this year too. I just don't understand how someone can play so well and also appear so lost at times. If he can do it for months why not more consistently? That is the disappointment. Polanco if he establishes himself won't have this problem. For crying out loud obviously he is not a better player than Dozier right now and obviously has not contributed more this month. Thanks for the help on that. What I do see with him is a great addition to the lineup who has the potential to be a better all around hitter than Dozier and a tougher out. That is where Dozier has trouble. There are holes in his swing that keep him from contributing more with RISP.

    My first TD spanking...yeow. More is expected of a player who wants to be counted on to lead a team and produce. Brian came out of the box looking good then finished March/Apr with a sub-par but ok 728 OPS. Sinking to 689 and 645 in the succeeding months when the Twins lost steam. He will put up numbers, but as has been pointed out here he has an uncanny knack for piling it on in low leverage situations.

    He should have done it in May then. I think he feels the pressure when things aren't going well and tightens up. The worst team in ball and Polanco are what got this team going now Dozier can follow the leader

    The Twins really needed someone to step up this year and set the tone. Dozier wasn't up to the task. He seems to be able ride the wave with a hot team but not a guy to strap a team on his back and carry a team. More of a front runner. Bit player in a hit parade. Polanco on the other hand is more of an igniter. Last year when his father figure died he was in a tough place. This is the real Polanco and it is no coincidence the Twins have gone on a run. Dozier will join in but he is not the top dog here. All the same I could see signing him but maybe a less mercurial player would be better. His bad halves drag the team down big time.

    Gibby rocking that first round pick pedigree! The last piece in the loooooonnngggg development puzzle for Mr Gibson; go deeper in games. The third time through the order disaster days seem to be behind him.

    I see Gibby as a late bloomer. He doesn't have a ton of mileage on that bionic arm. Got that frame. This isn't a guy like Meyer who always is arm weary. He's hitting 94 with the 4 seamer now with an easy motion. With this new approach I think he goes on a good run to fully establish the former 1st round pick.

    We've been waiting a decade for this team to develop a decent starting pitcher then when they finally do you want to move him for a couple of guys who might develop? That logic seems flawed to me.

    Gibby must have read this so far he's 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored plus some solid pitching. I'll never understand trading a good young starting pitcher. Those you hang on to. For a "prospect"? Good luck. They definitely put in the time with Gibby I think the best return will be a few more years Like this one
