  1. Is this a Bonnes production or Stoh's?
  2. One thing no one is mentioning is didn't Martin have some nagging injury? A wrist? If so that could explain the power drop similar to what we saw with Kirilloff.
  3. Sano finished out well last year, but we have all seen the peaks and valleys and those valleys are deep and lush. Sano works hard and has passion for the game and his team. He is in a prove it year and it would be unwise to do anything right now except see how he responds. If he breaks out the team is covered nicely with the option. If he tanks well it's just one year. Somewhere in between without major growth, then I would try to move him at the deadline.
  4. There was a time when I thought he was goofy good times. He really did hit a peak with his bit. He now has gone off the deep end. I also tried the football and faith podcast and don't believe I lasted the introduction. It surprises me that the station has such good ratings in spite of PA's epiphanies. I know many athletes in the US are very into their Christianity and use it to get outside of themselves and let go of their pressures. In baseball, we have so many Latin players and catholicism is very strong in those cultures, so there is a wide spectrum of religiosity from the casual to the extreme fundamentalist. What I don't understand is how PA can go so over the top and still retain his ratings. Personally I can't listen anymore. I could never listen to the Common Man. Barreiro, on the other hand, has grown on me once I got past the shrill. Can I get a witness?
  5. This would legitimize our staff and still leave plenty of opportunity for the prospects.
  6. Sign me up Tom! I always liked Odo, and thought he was a gamer. He may not have liked being skipped in the playoffs, not sure I liked that either. He would have shown up in that start. Add Snell? Yes please.
  7. I bit on your comment, chewed on it for a while, spit it out, not bad, not bad.
  8. This is a really good point. Zimmer's coaching staffs have shown an aversion to playing young players. Every decision is made with only the game right in front of them in mind. For example Cameron Bynum had flashed some in his limited reps, but yet they keep running Xavier Woods out there even though he had proven to be mediocre at best. Why not develope Bynum for the future? Due to this philosophy we have no idea how good Mond can be. Further, how can we be confident in this coaching staff to develope the young quarterback anyway? We really don't know if Spielman's picks are actually good and it's the coaching staff that is failing in bringing out the best in them. Are the smaller interior lineman Spielman's fault or are they dictated by the desires of the coaching staff? I think Zimmer's time has come, but I don't think we have enough information to decide if Spielman should go too. Respect Zimmer and his staff enough to let them finish out the season. That will be one hell of a post game presser next week. Anyway I'm sure they have made a decision on Spielman. If he stays they can start looking for a coach now behind the scenes. If Slick Rick is gone, then they are looking at GM's now I'm sure.
  9. Satisfied with the situation in Tampa? I don't really care about the situation in Tampa. I have looked into it a little and there appears to be an impasse on getting a new stadium done with some convoluted agreement with St Petersburg holding them hostage, so the owner tried some ill-advised dual city agreement which ended in an unfortunate manner. Whatever. If they did build a new stadium that was more appealing and in a better location they might improve attendance. They have some factors working against them. Florida is populated by transplants with different team affiliations. Florida is a state where the population huddles inside in air-conditioning in the summer eliminating a major appeal of baseball. In any case they could resolve this situation and become a model franchise with a beautiful, full, new ballpark to go along with everything else they do well. Whatever happens will not be the linchpin in the future of MLB. I did edit linchpin for Brock
  10. A bit dramatic don't you think? Sure their crappy, empty stadium and owner with bulging pockets casts a pall somewhat, but their acumen and unique success balances it out for me.
  11. Agreed except this is where Zimmer has it wrong. Mannion has no wheels and a pea shooter whereas the kid has a good arm and wheels. The ability to run might help in these conditions.
  12. I think Mond started 4 years at a D1 school. It ok.
  13. Cousins made a decision that pretty much guaranteed he'd be out with COVID at some point. At this point, however it doesn't matter, the team is going nowhere. There are 3 things I do want between now and training camp; a new coach, Cousins traded and to watch Mond play as much as possible. I'll bet the first 2 happen, but Zimmer is going to try for any win he can get and in his mind that means don't play a young guy. That is a reason I'm ready to move on. I respect Zimmer but he is too conservative.
  14. I hope your right about Mond playing. The cold weather is not ideal for the Southerner, but maybe we can watch him the following week in better conditions.
  15. Hilarious, you can't make this ****e up, lol. Of course I hope KC is alright. It does not matter, however, that he is not playing. In fact this is the perfect opportunity to get 2 starts for Mond! I would watch those games with much more enthusiasm! Not sure they will actually do that and probably will just play Sloter. Makes sense for the sinking ship that is Zimmer, I guess. SMH.
  16. I don't see how the Ray's are hurting baseball. Since they don't have any fans who can they hurt, lol. Brock's point that if they did spend they could do even better and maybe win it all is true. Oh well, what they do do is provide a blueprint of success for the rest of the league. Speaking of do do, I'm just trying to drag this thread out of it!
  17. Duluth native? I knew there was as something I liked about you. I'm a transplant from MPLS but am so enamored with Duluth I'll never move back.
  18. Count me in as well. I never agreed with comments suggesting they caved to fan pressure if they even paid attention. And good thing. This was a very difficult contract to hash out, so it took time. The number one factor in why the Twins were able to sign Buxton, and really the only reason, is that he sincerely wanted to be here so was ready to meet in the middle. Edit: Now after reading chpettit's comment I want to clarify. I agree that the Twins pay attention to the fanbase's mood and desires. When it comes to big decisions and strategy, however, I don't see them reacting to fan pressure. To be in their position you must have a strong and well thought out plan. You can't then waver all the time. I'll bet they were surprised when Buxton revealed how important it was to stay. He didn't do that right away as a basic negotiating tactic. Then Buxton showed he was willing to accept an offer the front office could stomach. Falvey and Levine probably had a reaction of surprise and relief as did many of us.
  19. Yeah yeah, we get it you think they are going to lose 90 games. If I had a dollar for every time you've said that this week I could buy a beer at Target Field.
  20. Well if we gotta quibble then his official debut was 2021 since the game in 2020 was during the playoffs. I think that was stated in the article, but I'm too lazy to look.
  21. Click edit after hitting the 3 dots in the upper right corner of your comment. 99% of the comments? Well we got 17 comments and we all know the one comment you didn't like, so that would be 94.22%, just saying. Why do I mention this? No idea I must be very bored.
  22. Have to say that while normally I frown on calling for people to be fired, which is far too prevalent on the internet, I think Zimmer's time has come. He has had his chance. I was optimistic when he was hired, but he hasn't lived up to what I had hoped for. The Vikings have been talented, but maybe underachieved some during his tenure. So there is the rub. Does Spielman go too? Are some of his undersized and unsuccessful interior o-line picks on him or was he selecting based on his coaches desires? Zimmer seems unwilling to play young players. Would a different coaching staff develope Slick Rick's picks better? Tough call.
