  1. At some point results have to factor in. At the end of the year he was the 3rd? most relied upon arm in the pen.
  2. This is a great article. It's amazing to me the amount of data now available ( and maybe even to the twins now ). I wonder how much time must go into these articles? All you have to do is look at my golf swing to realize how hard it must be to put this info into practice.
  3. You stole my comment! . Hilarious a conspiracy against Dominicans and American Jews! They'll have to send in McGuire to crack some heads if word of this leaks out
  4. This is definitely a bummer but look at it this way, the first half last year Polanco was abominable at the plate and below average in the field. I think a combo of Adrianza/Eddy can exceed that as we bide our time
  5. Weren't people worried about berrios in AA too long? Then he was arguably brought up too soon and struggled mightily. Some have said that a guy with a lesser make up might have been ruined. Who knows? I don't think anybody can say for sure yet this FO is slow with anything. Romero's going to get his chance, maybe this year, I hope he's ready. One thing I would wager is he will struggle some when he gets the call and he isn't someone who should or could be counted on to help in a pennant race this year.
  6. This guy is funny. Remember the reported quiet clubhouses of the aughts? This team has a ton of personality.
  7. At 6'5"and a listed 280 maybe Lynn can take a little heat off Sano
  8. With a limited amount of games I can watch I would pick based on the pitcher I wanted to see. What am I going to do now?
  9. Sorry for liking every post I'm a little giddy
  10. "there is no such thing as a bad one year deal" unknown
  11. I agree the same opportunity most likely won't exist but I don't see TR making this splash and I don't see Falvine I the scrap heap.
  12. Very exciting! The payroll is now up to snuff. Damn this is a totally different fan experience
  13. In many parts of the world bargaining is SOP. Here not so much. I have noticed some get offended with lowball offers. I say it's business, a starting point. Anyway if you have zero faith I the rotation this year must have been less than zero last year . Mejia is young and lost 16lbs to drop in to the 260's! That's progress.
  14. C'mon people where the angst? The guy is still getting 23m this year. 2.3m per homer! JK just got a little disoriented for a sec there. I'd take the over on a 300 BA this year. I wonder if any of the anti Joe set over at the Strib would put their money where their typing fingers are....
  15. He looks pretty good to me. Fitter than I expected. His incident will play itself out and if he is punished I doubt it it would exceed Chapman's violent and documented outburst. If he has to miss time I can see a hungry and healthy Sano returning. Nobody questions Berrios' or Buxton's commitment. Some guys who have a non-nonchalant or mellow demeanor like Sano or Mauer get questioned. Not always warranted. I'm sure Sano has learned many lessons in the last year.
  16. I'm happy. This was a good off-season, a fun off-season and not reminiscent of past years. Odorizzi does not in any way remind me of Nolasco. Lance Lynn might though . There is one gripe for me. 116m the record setting payroll, is record setting in number only. In real mlb inflation adjusted dollars it is light. 135m is where this team should be sitting. I'll give them the benefit of doubt because i was not in favor of a 5 year deal for a 31 year old pitcher, and you can't complain when good moves are also good deals but with this ownership I cringe when I hear they are saving money. The last five years alone they under spent by a cumulative what 75m? In a few years from now when the young talent needs to get paid i want to see some heavy payrolls. If we are dumping talent instead I may join the Pohlads are cheap crowd. I already would gladly move to the parallel universe where the twins are owned by a pizza tycoon or anybody but a banker.
  17. "the new brass ain't too sentimental" This is what is refreshing to me. They do seem very shrewd to me. Heck this mid market team has been stocked but they still have cash to spend. 135m would fit their market size. They might not be done I think this off-season is going to produce some last minute one year deals
  18. TD doesn't need click bait in my book as my finger is always poised to pounce on whatever is the next offering. #confessionsofaTDjunkie
  19. He's not that bad for a guy from Mississippi.
  20. The thing I liked about MLB teams aggressively shuttling relievers up and down is if done properly and with the right accumulated talent you could be effectively operating with a larger roster. This could be a real advantage.
  21. Last year if I recall he was only hitting 88-89 even into the regular season. 91 is a good sign. I'm rooting for this classy Twin.
  22. Yes I can see your point. I was however speaking of doing this with SP and just referencing a trend I saw last year when teams had arms waiting at AAA and rotating with the guy who just got used up in the MLB pen. This was a bullpen trend that I liked last year. I think this idea presented for the 5th starter had some merits as well.
  23. Similar change in approach to what Dozier did. Every year we wonder when he will turn into a pumpkin but it hasn't happened yet. Who can say whay will happen but as was pointed out he came from the East and will play in a weaker division. This sort of thing gets downplayed and people have correctly pointed out when talking pitching that the offenses of the East were average last year. In this case though he will be facing many more lightly regarded righties than last year.
  24. I think this is missing a new trend of rotating bullpen pieces to contend with shorter starts and more bullpen innings needed. I think many would still line up considering the size of those paychecks and all those free rides and meals etc. If you know the game going in and the possible reward then I think it would be ok.
