  1. Fun game and crisp at 2:40. Smeltzer just goes to work and we may just have something there. I would like to see one more and give him another week with Wes. He is one guy I do not see using in the pen. For me he makes better sense as much needed rotation depth.
  2. Smeltzer was fun to watch. He came at hitters and seemed to have the same arm slot on every pitch.
  3. I thought I heard we have the easiest remaining schedule in the division.
  4. *Gardenhire was a guest this week on Starting 9, the second best non-team specific podcast out there right now IMHO. I highly suggest checking it out if you haven't yet. He's such an amazing interview. What's the best non-team specific podcast?
  5. This is a very good point. I doubt many of these Latin players grew up laying on the wall to wall carpeting, staring into their iPads while nibbling on Pringles and sipping soda. Oh s*** I spilled I'll have to finish this later
  6. Aye-Ray is Chief's nickname for Adrianza. Adrianza is a fine ballplayer but this kid has some excitement and energy about him that fits well with this club.
  7. Aye-Ray has no options I think it is time to make the switch and I think Arraez makes this an easy choice. It's obviously only a few games but he gives me the same impression I got from polanco when he came up also from way down on the farm.
  8. Two weeks till the draft. Let's go shopping! Ok I'll admit I don't know the rules. So after the draft they can sign a guy like Kimbrel and not have to give up a pick, but why are trades so rare until right before the deadline? Are trades impacted by the timing of the draft? I want to see them trade some assets for some heat in the pen.
  9. I'm really glad we've got a 3 o'clock start today. That's a payback for the late West coast start times and a perfect Sunday start. Not so early you can't get anything done.
  10. What are they going to do with Cron? An .841 ops and on pace for 48 dingers? Looks like he's ARB 3 next year so we have basically an option on him an Perez. Damn these moves look good! With a complete free agent washout last year but a reset button for this year. Pinch me. The one holdover was Addison and they didn't waste any time (or losses) on eating that deal. Again pinch me!
  11. Damn hildy has a 36.00 ERA in Rochester so far. (1 inning)
  12. I'm cooperating with you here but I'm not sure I buy your homer projections for these two young players. They each hit nearly your numbers in a half season of at bats. Now Garver can't be expected to get a full season of at bats but Polanco should. They also could be expected to develop more power as they grow.
  13. All true but I don't see what the rush is. He comes up before the top of the order in the vast majority of his at bats anyway. The amount of at bats he'll miss out on in the next, say, month isn't that big of a deal. I could see first moving him up to around sixth for a while. With his track record I wouldn't rush him in to anything that might get him back into his own head.
  14. They had a little trouble doing it to the TWINS
  15. Just like last week a disappointing Sunday gets brightened by a look at the week overall.
  16. I think the depth is better than it has been. Marwin stepping up for Sano, the three headed catcher etc
  17. Stewart was a very candid interview on the post game show
  18. WJ for president! I mean really my neck it's stiffening up. I didn't realise how much I relied on the previous regime to keep it loose. Might have to take up yoga.
  19. Well we've got Berrios locked up for three more years and that sweet Perez deal for one more (I wonder if the previous regime would have already extended that for three more ☺). It's going to be interesting how it all shakes out. The only deals signed so far are ridiculously team friendlies for Polanco and Kepler which leads me to believe the offers for Gibby and Berrios were on the low side. There is going to be pressure to develop starters payroll wise but that is going to be a while so they have to sign at least one of Odo or Gibby right? Does this happen during the season or are we looking a busy off season with lots of hand wringing? Can they talk Berrios or say Buxton or Perez (if they keep performing) into longer deals? Would they even do a long term deal if it isn't super team friendly? Kinda off topic.
