  1. Wouldn't another factor be where on the bases the runners are and how many outs? Runner on first two outs vs runners on second and third no outs for example.
  2. The irrational purveyor of fairy dust actually likes Dozier and has rooted for the guy. All you say, the surprising rise to a top MLB player, is true and commendable. When he came out of the gate playing well this year I thought now we might have something. A Dozier who plays well all year but then we were disappointed again. If you weren't disappointed by his first half performance you are delusional. As the events of the last couple days show he may lead us to postseason this year too. I just don't understand how someone can play so well and also appear so lost at times. If he can do it for months why not more consistently? That is the disappointment. Polanco if he establishes himself won't have this problem. For crying out loud obviously he is not a better player than Dozier right now and obviously has not contributed more this month. Thanks for the help on that. What I do see with him is a great addition to the lineup who has the potential to be a better all around hitter than Dozier and a tougher out. That is where Dozier has trouble. There are holes in his swing that keep him from contributing more with RISP.
  3. Yeah great idea! The problem is Moya would've sat on the bench. At least McGill is rested!!?? Argh very frustrating
  4. My first TD spanking...yeow. More is expected of a player who wants to be counted on to lead a team and produce. Brian came out of the box looking good then finished March/Apr with a sub-par but ok 728 OPS. Sinking to 689 and 645 in the succeeding months when the Twins lost steam. He will put up numbers, but as has been pointed out here he has an uncanny knack for piling it on in low leverage situations.
  5. He should have done it in May then. I think he feels the pressure when things aren't going well and tightens up. The worst team in ball and Polanco are what got this team going now Dozier can follow the leader
  6. The Twins really needed someone to step up this year and set the tone. Dozier wasn't up to the task. He seems to be able ride the wave with a hot team but not a guy to strap a team on his back and carry a team. More of a front runner. Bit player in a hit parade. Polanco on the other hand is more of an igniter. Last year when his father figure died he was in a tough place. This is the real Polanco and it is no coincidence the Twins have gone on a run. Dozier will join in but he is not the top dog here. All the same I could see signing him but maybe a less mercurial player would be better. His bad halves drag the team down big time.
  7. For me when were up by that much I wouldn't waste Hildys bullets. Maybe not Presley's either
  8. Gibby rocking that first round pick pedigree! The last piece in the loooooonnngggg development puzzle for Mr Gibson; go deeper in games. The third time through the order disaster days seem to be behind him.
  9. I see Gibby as a late bloomer. He doesn't have a ton of mileage on that bionic arm. Got that frame. This isn't a guy like Meyer who always is arm weary. He's hitting 94 with the 4 seamer now with an easy motion. With this new approach I think he goes on a good run to fully establish the former 1st round pick.
  10. We've been waiting a decade for this team to develop a decent starting pitcher then when they finally do you want to move him for a couple of guys who might develop? That logic seems flawed to me.
  11. Gibby must have read this so far he's 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored plus some solid pitching. I'll never understand trading a good young starting pitcher. Those you hang on to. For a "prospect"? Good luck. They definitely put in the time with Gibby I think the best return will be a few more years Like this one
  12. Like the optimism. The staff is stacked in comparison to what we've witnessed.
  13. For me having a flat 20m+ loss is just bad business. Time for everybody to move on and in the the process addressing an organizational weakness? I can see the logic.
  14. I still don't like the move. Wouldn't happen with the current FO. They already had him for a couple super cheap years, yes if he was good it would cost more to sign him. That is why it was a cheap move for fear of a high salary but your cheapness allowing you to risk hamstringing you team down the road. These were the kind of moves that got under my skin.
  15. Phil Hughes has my respect as does the FO for making this move.
  16. As per above I am firmly in this camp. That was a bad move when May went to the pen when he did. I was not happy at the time. Big Pelf should have been let go. The Twins had a promising thing going with May and screwed it up. Their handling of him did his development no favors. Plus his body clearly responds better to a starter's routine. Here we are again. Another bad contract, Hughes, two flagging vets owed a huge, obscene pile of cash costing us wins. What something around 36m? What will happen...? This is a tough situation made by multiple bad decisions. The Lynn signing was a move I approved of. The Hughes extension and the handling of May are two things I would never have done. The one thing in the Twins favor is that May has options. On top of that he is not far enough removed from TJ that you can count on him yet. He needs time to get his feel, heck he needed time for that before the surgery. I say keep Hughes where he is for now. I would love to swap May and Lynn but this is the tough part. If Lynn could be moved that would be fantastic. If not we signed what 5 new pitchers? If one flopped and had to be dumped that's not too bad. JUST DO IT!!! Then let may compete with Gonsalves, Mejia and Slegers etc for the #5 (#6 if Santana is ready and no-one gets hurt.
  17. This is why you want rotation depth. At last one guy is either going to struggle or get hurt. A good team takes no prisoners. Send Lynn down next guy up
  18. The time to bring up Gordon was when Sano went down. Probably too late now although what the heck is going on with Sano anyway? Last quote I saw from Molitor said he was running a drill but without much effort.? This guy has a chance for huge amounts of cash but seems clueless. Getting hard to root for the guy. I thought the homerun derby when he was clearly out done by the big damn Yankee would send a humbling message and light a fire but I guess not. He acts like he can sleepwalk through the twins portion of his career then just sign a big deal in N.Y. At this rate they might not want him
  19. Berrios, Odorizzi, Gibson, Romero and May not necessarily in that order. Then you've got Mejia and Gonsalves. This is your Minnesota Twins starting pitching depth for '19. This is such a change I like it allot. I predict May as a valuable starter moving forward.
  20. I'm not going to look it up but his stats in AAA weren't that great this year so again i was surprised he was called up this early.
  21. May is not going to come back rotation ready. Getting His feel back will take time especially considering he was just getting it figured out when he got hurt.
