  1. One thing not mentioned is Target Field plays well to right handed power and the Twins are appropriately constructed.
  2. I just think back to Pierzinski and how it was said you only liked him if he was on your team. Personally I liked him very much and he was a hilarious contrast to the guy who replaced him. Sad to see him go.
  3. I think Duran and Balazovic project as starters more favorably than Graterol. Graterol needs to show he can hold up to a starters work load, it's not necessarily the pitches for him. If he ends up as a fireman with the other 2 as starters that wouldn't be bad. Of course a rotation with all three could be fun!
  4. The part where he said they should trade him for some chips and a sausage pizza?
  5. Sausage pizza? That's about enough of the Eddie bashing thank you!
  6. I was advocating for him as an early season starter transitioning to the pen when the rotation fills up. Which would limit his innings. They must think either he doesn't have the pitches for that yet or can't handle the load yet or some combination of both. I'm on board with this move for 2 reasons. I love the new FO not wasting his bullets in the minors and this move can be temporary i.e. Santana. This is aggressive and decisive management! Edit: Make that 3 reasons, I like him up with the major league staff and players.
  7. I read he was going to skip surgery and just play with it. Post surgery rehab would take too long. Your right though there is nothing in the news since then.
  8. Looking at those payroll lite years it's time for some payback. $165m? That might change some fan narratives. Go get another pitcher!
  9. "ladies and gentlemen, yes the Twins off-season keeps going on and on and on!"
  10. Twins off-season: "I laughed, I cried" (not necessarily in that order), said TD.
  11. They may just do that. It could be they are trying for a long term deal and if that falls apart then just give him his number. We just don't know.
  12. Yes, this is a good point. Previously there was an assumption that Sano wanted a big payday on the east coast. That he would jump ship at the first opportunity. Maybe the good will engendered this past year with his success, the team's success and possibly the clubhouse/Cruz factor has sweetened him on Minnie. With Berrios not inked yet hopefully the same is weighing on him.
  13. Obviously he is pointing out the incentive he does have to sign.
  14. Cruz is top tier on many levels. That is undeniable.
  15. In one way none of the pitchers we picked up are going to be quite like Gibson. Can you imagine Gibby and his wife getting kicked out of a Viking's game and arrested? Hilarious!!!
  16. They also signed Odo and Pineda and we still have 2 months left. So far they have signed the free agent pitchers Gleeman had ranked as the 6th,8th and 13th best available. Something like that. Plus wherever he had Bailey ranked. Hill was at 13 because of availability concerns but if healthy he will pitch as well as the best on the list. One more big acquisition, either Donaldson or a trade for a pitcher and we are looking pretty good. Hard to be patient though.
  17. I'm ok with this type of signing as long as we load up on depth and play the hot hand. They did bench Schoop last year maybe they will not be averse to cutting their losses with a pitcher.
  18. That is true but I suggest that it suggests nothing. We do not have the data yet.
  19. Kind of impossible to grade an off season before it is over. You really can't even access something like a mid-term grade because you don't have the full context yet. We're still 2 days away from the day they signed Cruz last year. Just sayin.
  20. Romero's oddly disastrous season has to be a fluke, doesn't it? How can a guy come up and dominate as a starter for 5 starts one year then he can't even find the plate the next? You gotta think a guy like him with his talent picks it up a bit this year. Romero along with Alcala give us some potential bullpen depth with big talent. Looking forward to watching it play out.
  21. Littel IS surprisingly young. When he came up as a starter he seemed like a back ender at best. The move to the pen was an eye opener for me. The stuff looks really good. The 23 year old didn't handle his surprising insertion into a playoff game but I don't think that will have any future ramifications. From what he has said he really likes the pen. Not having to pace himself. Unlike Duffey who took a long time to embrace the role Littel is into it. We could see some further development this coming season.
  22. Fun guy to have on the squad. Is clutch and sets a calm example.
