  1. This thread reminds me of my buddy's old Pontiac GTO. At startup, it would belch a little blue smoke and idle rough, but once you got it warmed up it would purr like a kitten and man that kitty had some bite!
  2. Contract gaffe? Everybody wants them to sign the big free agent, I mean everybody. It is a risk and JD wasn't going to sign for less than 4 years. Even if he doesn't play 100 games as a Twin I don't think you can both want them to sign big time free agents and call this signing a gaffe. The front office just can't win I guess.
  3. Buzz kill for sure, but "it's gonna be a long year"? Give me a break.
  4. Ok I'll go with that. When I saw your post I expected the opposite because I also think many are overrating the Sox. When you hear in sports that this team is playing well or this team isn't look at the schedule. Usually it has to do with the level of competition. The Dirty Sox absolutely feasted on the dregs on the central divisions. Did they choke at the end or was it the schedule?
  5. Obviously the Twins and Sox are close so if you are a Twins fan why wouldn't you pick them?
  6. I don't want to see Arraez in LF at all. He is not good out there. If his knees are a problem then I surely don't want him running around in the outfield. He is infield depth for me really only playing second and third with Polanco covering short. Maybe first and DH once and a while as it stands now but if Rooker and or Kirlloff were up and performing they could cover those positions. DH ok, but Luis is too short for first.
  7. I, too, wanted to see what Rooker could do and I'm pretty surprised. He is on the taxi squad, so most likely I won't have to wait long. Either way it's nice to have a righty in this spot. The Twins have the depth for the marathon and are my clear division favorites! Very excited, let's go!
  8. "It was third to blame for last year’s postseason train wreck (behind of course: 1. The Offense and 2. Defense)." FTFY
  9. When Gibby got Nibbly it did not elevate the team, but it did elevate my blood pressure. There I FTFY!
  10. I agree with all this, but i do see a young high upside starter or 2 getting some work as the season progresses. Duffey had that run and so did Romero, there is enough talent that one of these guys, Caterino etc, get a chance and gets hot.
  11. Throwing to first with Arraez there is like trying to hit a long shot on a twelve foot snooker table. Tiny hole, lots of green.
  12. I think what happens with Berrios is, like all pitchers, sometimes he just doesn't have it. The problem is he will get visibly frustrated and be unable to work around the missing pitch and slap together a good start. Or, better yet, get that pitch under control. I do remember a start last year where he was, flying open and his pitches were everywhere, but he bore down and found his mojo. Ended up with a really good outing. That was encouraging.
  13. There will come a day when John decides which profile he prefers, or maybe there won't.
  14. It was reported that he got a 4th option, then the report changed to that option being arbitrated. We'll see.
  15. Agree on Duffey. I would say Colina is the next fireballer up!
  16. It's interesting to me that this is happening now with Buxton and Berrios. The perception was Sano wanted to go to NY, that Berrios wouldn't sign and the Buxton would be angry about the service time thing and also would be gone. Now it appears things are pretty rosie in that clubhouse and this is one happy team.I guess this turns the Minnesota Sports Insecurity Syndrome on it's head. I'm glad because I get tired of hearing it. So we've got a beautiful ballpark, beautiful Minnesota summers and a team that is a joy to follow on all levels. I think you have to credit this front office, the coaches and JP for this turn of events.
  17. I like Arraez and Polanco splitting the duties except when Polanco's ankle is healthy he's better from the left side. I don't think we have the righty bat that projects to a lead off role. Buxton is not that guy, at least not now. Taking all that into consideration I like Kepler at 4 and Arraez and Polanco leading off.
  18. He's the man in his squad apparently, unfortunately that squad isn't the Twins. To be the man on the Twins takes a singular focus ala Mr Cruz, Mr Maeda, Mr Rogers etc.
  19. That was sarcasm
  20. Question away, but comparing Falvine to previous regimes (Ryan/Smith?)? You lose me there. Completely different experience.
  21. You're on I'll put it in my calendar! PM on October 3rd.
  22. The rich just keep getting richer, smh. It ain't easy being green?
  23. Good thing Maeda probably supplements his income with his fame in Japan because he sure is getting ripped off over here.
  24. Mr Lease again sums it up for me. I definitely want a flyer on another starter to avoid relying on Thorpe or Smeltzer hopefully getting us to mid season where a young guy like Duran could fill in if necessary. Bank on the Dirty Sox and LaRussa? I'll take that bet!
