  1. I read the article and the faulty device mentioned isn't even a radar gun. When they do mention a radar gun failing it's because more than one vehicle are close together moving at different speeds. So I guess your right as long as the pitcher throws two balls.
  2. The magnificent LEN111 is reporting that Gonsalves was back to 88-91 in his latest outing. Maybe that gun is just fine after all. I've always been sceptical when people talk inaccurate radar guns. This is very mature technology. Anybody try using that argument on the side of a road with a cop? Ironic the one guy they plunk down on for multiple years can't give them one. What I want to see is them make the call on Reed without costing the team wins. We need to operate like every game is crucial.
  3. At this level the difference between the middle and the top teams is minuscule. This FO doesn't miss these little details. I find I'm learning more about MLB mechanization following these two. It is a refreshing ride.
  4. Update: Now we're talking! More creativity from this front office. That 700k would just about cover 5 Brusdar Graterols! That money is more appealing than the prospect imo.
  5. Yes but I also don't understand why Kepler wouldn't be far down any list for first base. The man needs to be roaming the nether regions, as chilly would say he is a kick ass center fielder. Seriously he not only is in the top few at right field but not many guys are better at center. The guy is smooth out there and always knows right where the wall is. Which might be why he is always available. Not to mention that so far his bat hasn't played at first.
  6. Maybe they should study some film of when the games were half as long and implement rules to steer players behavior in the desired direction. A pitch clock could be part of it and also a delay of game warning followed by a penalty. The three biggest problems are TV, players idiosyncratic behavior and pitching changes. TV has made the prices skyrocket to the point where the last time this family of four went to a game we dropped $300. Ridiculous. If baseball does retract financially maybe that's not such a bad thing. The salaries, prices and profits are absurd. BTW I just made plans to catch a couple of Blue Wahoo games: $6 beers I checked.
  7. In an article in the Strib recently Castro said one thing that helped him get through rehab was being in the room and feeling like he was contributing to the team.
  8. Reed looks pretty good in that snippet! Gotta get a shot this year right? I'll go with him. Also the other Reed had quite the year with the bat last year and like cave his babip appears unsustainable. Will be fun to see if one of these two can take the next step. When fans who liked cave get a look at M Reed they might turn fickle
  9. I really like what I've seen from this FO so far. I will say their style of communication is a bit much for me. I'm all for proper grammar and large vocabularies. For example I cringe when Mike Zimmer speaks, football seems to frown on intellectualism (except Belichick). One of the things I like about baseball is it's embrace of the intellect. Funny when you realise that many players never went to college, I wonder what they think of the dynamic ivy league duo! I do appreciate well spoken people but only when they don't appear to be trying to be well spoken. This is something I've noted with some amusement and overall I've enjoyed watching them operate.
  10. This is a good idea John, really illustrates the structure. These guys make some thoughtful moves, just a breath of fresh air around here. All these smart details piling up relentlessly have got to put this team in an advantageous situation.
  11. I like this move. Polanco's a very nice infield bat that projects well. I see a consistent and well rounded hitter.
  12. I think he said stats become more important as you climb the ladder which would bear out with your Gonsalves example.
  13. Ah money laundering... Remind me not to play a Pohlad for money in chess. I kid,I kid
  14. Maybe someone can answer this for me. The Twin Cities are the 16th largest market in the US. They have the 20th ranked tv deal. Seattle just passed us for the 15th ranked metro area. They have the 5th highest tv deal. What gives? Our games are shown statewide and in neighboring states. Not the case for Seattle. Maybe I should apply for a job?
  15. The only reason, besides the old adage you can never have enough pitching, to sign Perez that I can think of is maybe they know something about Mejia's health that we don't.
  16. Reed had a 965!! OPS! Geez. Bats right, no options. Gotta think he's got the inside track and then we have what I agree are too many behind him on the forty. Yes we do need to make a decision and pare them down. I also agree the only reason they still have granite on the forty is to trade him if he rebuilds his value.
  17. Littel looks that way to me too, AAAA, but then you look at his age and some good results/numbers maybe he's got a chance.
  18. Cruz saw something he liked here and decided to come. Says he sees a young talented team that reminds him of his days in Texas. Not everybody is going to feel that way. Grandal saw the same thing in Milwaukee. That's why I don't agree with comments stating the Twins didn't try hard enough or low balled an offer. Negative commentary without any proof. The Twins have been HORRIBLE for the better part of a decade and the area is unknown to most players who the vast majority of come from warm climates. The only way this team can consistently attract top talent is to build something players want to be a part of.
