  1. Shoulder problems have tipped the scale for me... risk is too high now for Montas given the high price that will be required. Even one or two great starts will not be enough to reassure in my book (could have had a corticosteroid injection that will wear off in a month)
  2. Using our heads, we should trade him (there is O.O% chance of extension for you Animal House fans out there and a <5% chance of WS). Using our hearts (and our inner 5-year-old need for short term results), we should keep him. Ultimately though, he will be kept because there simply won't be a huge market for him which drives a reasonable return (for the same reason he fell in our laps in the first place!).... which is totally OK!
  3. Especially with our lack of catching depth. Nick is correct. This IS a complex issue. I believe that step 1 is to assess the extent of the 40 man crunch next year. I'm not an expert, but the FO actually NEEDS to make trades that include multiple prospects to avoid losing some to Rule V. This step alone should be enough to shore up the bullpen. Starting pitching and catcher improvements.... THAT will require sacrifice which may not be in the best interest of our success in 2023 and beyond.
  4. Could not agree with this more! I think the FO is developing a strong team, but I also think there is very little chance of success in the playoffs this year even if we make it. We do have a 40 man crunch coming though. I would advocate only for deals that clear 40 man space and acquire MLB pitching with at least 1.5 years control because next year would be the earliest that 'the window' could reopen.
  5. Buck's knee has been a problem for months. It is negatively impacting his play.... likely more than we even appreciate. He and the Twins have decided that it was better for him to literally and figuratively limp his way through the season. I suspect that some of his good weeks are coming after getting an injection (which you can only get so often). I suspect that they would have been better served to rest him on the IL for 2-4 weeks after the initial injury and had a better version of him the rest of the year.... but who knows?! Bottom line is that I think nothing has changed.... He is dominant when fully healthy and him being fully healthy will likely continue to be sporadic throughout his career. He is NOT fully healthy
  6. Let's rename this "The Pagan Replacement Watch" ....what?!.... too soon?
  7. Or.... (insert nuanced analysis here).... he'll continue to get lit up like a Christmas Tree. Overall, I personally categorize this post in the 'wishful thinking' category. The Rogers trade is on it's way to the Ramos for Capps category of Twins history Nick, I will say that your tweet on how badly his cutter has been hit was the most insightful fact that I've read on the Twins this season.!
  8. Very telling that I completely forget about him until the biweekly TD article. I look forward to the day when we don' have to discuss him anymore.
  9. I did NOT see this com..... oh wait a minute... I TOTALLY saw this coming!
  10. Rocco: "There have been times where Emilio Pagán is one of the best relievers in baseball, he knows what that feels like. Right now his stuff is actually good, the execution is not good." Translation: "Pagan is pitching terribly... but my excel spreadsheet says that he should be pitching good, so I need to keep sending him out there in high leverage situations... (oh my excel spreadsheet... my precious...)"
  11. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.... or more simply.... Pitching Pagan in relief Trading Rogers at the outset of the season has turned out to be every bit as devastating as some on this site predicted at the time. Taylor Roger's WARP (Wins Above Replacement of Pagan) would be about 8 already!
  12. My goodness... still wondering when Buxton will finally take the IL trip he has needed for over a month. Complete waste for him to figuratively and literally limp along at 50%
  13. I think it is pipe dream that he signs a long-term deal with the Twins... BUT, I think we can all agree that it was also a pipe dream that he would sign with us in the first place too... so there's that
  14. As much as I like Miranda's future, he is the one that Krill should replace. He has options and is not tearing up the MLB at this point. It would not be good to lose Gordon for nothing especially this early in the season. He is and will continue to be needed.
  15. Arraez also makes his teammates better. Driving up pitch counts both physically and mentally exhausts pitchers which causes physical and mental mistakes further down the line up. Huge win for the Twins
  16. Consistent and flexible average to above average play (at low cost) will always be welcome on a MLB team! He's not going anywhere.
  17. Celestino's development is HUGE for the Twins. We look to have a legit MLB OF (CF capability) at 23 years old! His ceiling is obviously much higher than a 4th outfielder. Super important and exciting for the Twins' future
  18. A team should not by high and sell low... so no... would not trade him right now.
  19. The Twins are basically smoke and mirrors at this point. It's not the FO fault. There has been absolute roster carnage this year so far. No team could survive this volume of injury. It could get ugly, but I'm holding out hope that they can limp for a month or so until people get healthy and the trade deadline happens. But, alas.... Hope is indeed not a plan
  20. Past time... like 3 weeks past time.... he should be getting ready to come OFF the IL ready to tear @#$! up Instead he has literally limped along only to delay the inevitable. Essentially we traded 3 weeks of hobbled Buxton for 3 weeks of post IL elite Buxton due to stubborness
  21. As someone who treated numerous COVID patients from the very beginning of the pandemic and throughout, knows the science very well, and has no financial interest... let me be very clear. The vaccine significantly reduces your chances of being hospitalized and/or dying from COVID-19. The evidence is definitive It is agreed upon by the vast majority of medical experts whom have NO financial stake in the vaccine. It does not prevent all infections or transmission, but has save countless lives There are many things in the world that are debatable... this is not one of them. Sorry
  22. Um... I totally called Kepler being out and likely not vaxxed on the original string....talked about selling swamp land in Florida for those who did not believe and such.... Not surprising at all.
