  1. Let's give him $40m a year for the next three years with opt outs........
  2. And the Twins thought he was expensive in his last arbitration year. Good for Taylor and you get to play on the same team with your brother.
  3. Hey, things could still change and tomorrow announce that Correa has signed a 3-year-deal with the Twins for like $50m a season with opt outs!
  4. We have to find positions and roles for players to play.
  5. The Twins also signed ARMANI SMITH, a corner outfielder with some first abse experience. Right-handed hitter. Only 24 with a bit of pop and some speed. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=smith-002arm
  6. If the Twins wish to be competitive in the central division, no reason to trade either right now. If they fall out of contention, both should bring back something of value at trade deadline, if they stay healthy, and the Twins would then have to say they are in full rebuild mode.
  7. Good public relations or just blowing smoke? The thing is, if you can offer one guy $300 million, then you better be signing some quality!
  8. They kinda drag a line behind the boat ...........
  9. Yeah, I',m confused about Jair. A catching prospect the Twins should have under a minor league contract, considering their overall depth. But I'm not seeing it as official, compared to the aging guy listed on the Saints roster as an infielder.
  10. The killer is losing Paddack for absically two seasons. He's still young, so that is a positive. The other thing I didn't understand was the Twins sending along money. Basically I saw the Twins as NOT feeling Rogers could be the closer, and that he was too expensive. I was dreaming that it was going to be an even bigger trade, with the Twins including Sano and taking Eric Hosmer (but only part of his contract) and maybe getting Padre catching prospect Luis Campusano in the deal, too. Hosmer might've been a good DH and bench guy, and the Twins would've had their second catcher. I saw mroe value in Sano, as he wasn't injured yet for a full season. Miguel might've loved San Diego and really thrived. The Twins still have Pagan who COULD rebound, be a tradechip, whatever. Rooker is also gone from the Padres. The only downfall for the Twins was having to pay Rogers salary. In a minor way, Rogers might've contributed a few extra wins if he was the Twins closer coming out of the gate. I'm still urious to see what kind of contract he will be signing as a free agent. Trevor May got $7m from the A's after an injury plagued no-nothing season.
  11. OKAY, HE COSTS MORE AND IS A TAD OLDER THAN kEPLER. STRIKES OUT MORE THAN SANO. AND BATS LEFT-HANDED. ALSO MEANS WE HAVE TO DESIGNATE SOMEONE FOR ASSIGNMENT (CONTRERAS, PERHAPS). I'm all for opening the pocketbook. So, we replace Sano and Sanchez skill set at the plate with...Gallo? Who can at least play a position, I guess. Meanwhile, the A's gave Trevor May $7 million to pitch.
  12. I still think the Twins can get Rodon on a five year conract with an opt out after year one and year two. Probably in the $120m range.
  13. Heck, give him six years at $300m. Really screw the salary amrketplace. Correa would still have six more years to do another contract. You would hope he would be a superstar for at least four of those six years. By then, most of the taent you are currently developing will be getting expensive, but you will also have greater revenue.
  14. Well, the Twins did do $105 for 3 years with an opt out. Looks like they were willing to continue that price for up to...9 years!?! Let's spend money mroe wisely. But shows the Twins would not be afraid to spend $30m on the...right...player.
  15. If he can hold the running game and do his best framing techniques, plus not be a total weakness (all or nothing Sanchez) at the plate, the contract is well worth the price. Assuming we can get 120-135 games from him behind the plate in 2023. Hell' I would consider adding Sandy Leon as the back-up for most of the season and have Jeffers take his reps as the starting catcher in St. Paul. Especially if you can keep him behind the plate and working for sure with any pitchers (Woods Richardson, Balazovic, Varland, Sisk) that could be part of the Twins in the future. One year of solid work as a starter and I would be more than happy with more limited service time for the remaining years of his contract.
  16. The Twins will have to vastly overpay for years 1-2-3 with opt outs to get either of these Carlos guys. They could. Will they?
  17. Kepler for Rortvedt and we'll take back Donaldson as our needed right-handed bat, if the Yankees eat his salary.
  18. Let Lewis play as long as he needs in St. Paul, but choose a position and run him out there as a regular. I would rathr see Lewis get built-up and push someone out of the outfield than bring him back waaaaay too soon. Decide, too, what to do with Austin Martin. Suddenly the Twins could have a wealth of disposable redundant outfield talent. I like Martin on the bases. Put him in a lineup with a running Julien, Arraez somewhere, Lewis, Buxton and someone like Corea.......phew!
  19. They are going to change the name from Target Field to Correa Field.
  20. No, but you have to find a comfortable position for him to play. He doesn't seem to be a guy that just wants to hit. He plays better, or so I notice, when he is in the game on the field. His strength is working the count, which makes him a wonderful lead-off hitter. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the base running skills to take that extra base via steal or put pressure on the pitcher, so you run the double-play risk if he bats leadoff and gets on. If he bats second, he stands a good chance of advancing the runner in every at bat, assuming the runner has better bse-running skills that Arraez. I would put Polanco, Buxton, Correa, maybe Lewis, even Kepler in that position. But Kepler needs to start hitting. But then again, Arraez has a wasted at bat if the leadoff hitter gets out, and you don't have a really strong #3 in the order. You gotta bat him early because of his eye-at-the-plate, and his OBP. You want him to get that fifth at bat each and every game. Has he reached his peak? No. Would I sign him long-term? Also, No. partly because he is a man without a...position.
  21. The joy is that all teams are experiencing the same. You can push players, to make up for that lost year, or start to see a logjam. Not that there is any lack of players, with a whole host playing the major league sponsored indy leagues looking for that secondary chance. I also noticed an abundance of plaeyrs in the Mexican leagues. How it all plays out will be fun to watch.
  22. I keep wondering what kind of contract Byron Buxton may have gotten from someone else last season. Sheesh.
  23. Rumor ahs it that whenb the Twins saw what the Padres were doing, they started to cull together offers to top the Padres offers, but the photocopy machine ran out of paper and the players ended up signing elsewhere. But, hey, at least they thought they were in the hunt.
  24. I would've liked to see Celestino get almsot a full year of play at AAA. Should've happened last season (along with Larnach) with the Twins fielding Kirilloff/Buxton/Kepler with Garlick and now Gordon as the reserves. But that failed to happen. I would still nurture him, at age 24, for a regular job in St. Ppaul and see how he goes from there. Play him everyday, in a central place in a line-up. Yes, he may be bypassed by larnach, Wallner, Lewis, Martin and overtaken by Rodriguez soon. I still questioned why they felt the need to keep him on the 40-man, as well as other outfield decisions, in that season the wins lost not just Baddoo, but also Wade.
